Rams RB Steven Jackson is going to test the Free Agency Market.

With St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson set to void the final year of his deal and test the free-agent market, it will become interesting to see which teams choose to invest in some of the elder but talented backs who are hitting the market.

I can imagine that Green Bay and Atlanta would love to have him. He's 30 and has a lot of milage so even though he's been in remarkable shape for most of his career he's due to start breaking down at any time. A team that needs a RB to get to the Superbowl would want him though.

Can you imagine that team with a top ten RB in the backfield. Good grief they'd be scary. If he really wants a shot at the Superbowl he needs look no where else.

Yahoo's Jason Cole says that "based on what was happening" at the Combine, Steven Jackson's "likely landing spot" is Atlanta.
It's the same vibe Rams beat writer Jim Thomas is getting.

The Lions are said to be interested in Reggie Bush.

So, lets think this one through. I think Jackson could still be an every down back. But he might be able to extend his career if he were to pair up with a team.

Teams in desperate need:
Green Bay, Detroit(not sold or LeShoure yet), Rams(obviously), Cardinals(Wells sucks, RWilliams keeps getting hurt), Cowboys(?? Murray really it?)

Teams that have young backs or old backs that could use Jackson:
Atlanta, Denver, Miami, Chargers, Chiefs, Colts

I would actually think denver would be a solid, solid fit, Atlanta to pair with Rodgers as well. Detroit and Greenbay also are close to winning big.

And keep in mind that his stated goal is to reach the Superbowl so that leaves who from your list still standing?

Green Bay, Atlanta, Denver...is there another that is just a step away?

A lot of prospects out there.... SJax, Bush, Bradshaw, most likely...Turner. RBs are treated somewhat more casually in todays market and we have a buch of them and most with a little bit of mileage piled up. I wonder if the price gets driven down a bit?

Probably. How'd you rank them if it was for a team you owned?

Bush because he should have more playing days left
Jackson because he's still playing really well in spite of his age and he'll probably be the best back for a year or two.
Bradshaw because he can give me half a season of decent production.
Turner, oh wow he sure looks done as anything other then a goal line back.

Pretty close to my assesments but this day (your workday, my physical and mental prowess) is waning so let's pick this up again, hopefully tomorrow.

I would list Jackson first, he can catch, run and he is still extremely productive. He was on a terrible team and had good stats.
Then Bush, but I still don't think Bush is a full time RB, so he needs to go to a team like Atlanta or Detroit where he can share.
Bradshaw is a wild card to me. He obviously has incredible talent, but has no ability to stay on the field. Again, pair him up and he could be awesome. Detroit or Denver if McGahee is back could be great target for me.

Turner, not sure. He is a bear, but I don't think he is what he was. Could he be the thrunder to say Charles Lightning in KC?

But to me the big FA rb is now Jackson. Bush a far 2nd with Bradshaw being 2nd if he can prove he is healthy.

Thanks PhiCin. Any others care to rank these four RB's?
