1.1 - Indianapolis - Luck
1.2 - Washington - RG3
Well, so far so good.......
1.3 - Minnesota - Claiborne - yep, they want to trade down, but I don't see a player to do it. Kahil is gonna drop, some....and Minny gets a top def. talent. Don't know why, but it is clear from all reports they have Claiborne rated higher.
Well, I fell for it, can't blame Cleveland too much, I bought into the hype as well. Still, to move down one pick, gain 3 more picks and still take a OT they wanted. Nice for Minny.
1.4 - Cleveland - Richardson rb - yep, rumors are flying the Jets want to move up...but don't have the ammo.
right player, wrong pick # but I give myself a pass here!
1.5 - Tampa Bay - trade to Buffalo - Kahil OT - Buffalo wants a top LT, and they get Kahil here.
OH>>>>got the trade right!!! Partial credit for that. Still, wrong player and team. Jax moves up for Blackman.
1.6 - St. Louis - Blackmon Wr - get the much needed wr here for bradford
Well, blew this one, St.Louis trades down to Dallas, and Blackmon was off the board already....failure!
1.7 - Jacksonville - trade to Philadelphia - Cox DT - Philly REALLY wants Cox, and they KNOW they have to get before Carolina, and Jacksonville knows it can get what it needs lower.
A little too early, but I did get Philly's player and it was by trade. Giving myself partial credit here!
1.8 - Miami - Tannehill Qb - get their QB of the future.
Nailed it.
1.9 - Carolina - Gilmore Cb - fills a need, but not who they really wanted.
Failure.
1.10 - Tampa Bay - trade with Bills earlier - Luke Keulchy Lb - they lost Rudd to FA, and I think they want to fix the Def. With Gilmore and Claiborne gone....cb is not an option here.
Failure they traded down, and took S.
1.11 - Kansas City - Poe DT - need to fix DL
Nailed it!
1.12 - Seattle -Ingram DE - another key piece for the young defense.
Partial credit here, they traded down to Philly, but still took a DE/OLB in Irvin, however Ingram was on the board, so i was way wrong on player and place.
1.13 - Arizona - Reiff OT - a major upgrade to help young qbs and Rbs
Failed, went Wr instead of OT.
1.14 - Dallas - Baron S - more help for the backfield for the defense.
Failed, traded up to get Cb Claiborne
1.15 - Jacksonville - Trade with Eagles earlier - Coples DE - Solid talent, but some off field concerns, so dropping down pays off for Jax.
Failed, they traded..but went up to get Blackmon. No credit here..
1.16 - N.Y. Jets - Upshaw DE/LB - need pass rushing help with big power OLB
Failure, didn't see Coples as a target, then again, I think this is a huge mistake by Jets. Still, I was off.
1.17 - Cincinnati - trade last year with Oakland for Palmer - Dre Kirkpatrick CB - another key need for the def. backfield.
Nailed it.
1.18 - San Diego - DeCastro G - need OL help, best guard on the board
Nope, took the dropping DE in Ingram instead.
1.19 - Chicago - Mercilus DE/OLB - Need outside pass rush help
Nope, which I am shocked, as Mercilus was there, but they went McClellan instead.
1.20 - Tennessee - Jenkins Cb - they will take a risk here on the off field stuff
Nope, went WR instead, not a bad move either.
1.21 - Cincinnati - Glenn OT/G - they like the OL to be flexible and he can play guard and T.
Partial credit here, they went OG in Zeitler, but traded down and not Glenn.
1.22 - Cleveland - Floyd Wr - WOW!! Two top offensive weapons for McCoy to play with!! Look for Qb to be taken early 2nd round!!!
Way off, Floyd long gone, top three Wrs long gone, and they go panic job and take Qb Weeden way too early.
1.23 - Detroit - Martin OT - fix a key need with Backus coming back from injury, need to protect Stafford!!
Partial credit again, they go OT, but not martin instead make a great grab of Reiff
1.24 - Pittsburgh - Hightower LB - more youth for the defense!
Nope, they take the falling OG in DeCastro
1.25 - Denver - Doug Martin Rb Boise ST - Wild card pick here, they need help for Manning.
Nope, trade out to let NE move in for Defense.
1.26 - Houston - Wright Wr - Needed tool for Schaub and A.J.
Nope, Houston goes Defense with falling Mercelus instead.
1.27 - New England - Trade with saints last year - C. Jones DE - keep rebuilding the DL
Partial credit, they traded up to get Jones, but way earlier than I had here.
1.28 - Green Bay - Brockers DT - will help protect Lbs inside
Nope, Brockers gone, and they go DE instead.
1.29 - Baltimore - McClellen OLB - more def. help
Nope, traded out although for OLB, no credit given.
1.30 - San Francisco - Stephen Hill Wr - Need someone to step up to help A.Smith
Partial credit, went WR, not Hill though.
1.31 - New England - Harrison Smith S - more DB help
Nope, after Jones they go Hightower for LB help.
1.32 - N.Y. Giants - Corey Fleener Te - need more tools for Eli
Nope, they went rb.

So, not terrible. Hit some, missed some huge. But did nail a trade or two.

gruntbusters

hehehe...heheheh..hehe...
In this draft it would have been impossible for any of us to predict what just happened. Holy hell this was a weird one. Many guys that I had high hopes for are in terrible spots. Just crazy. An extremely deep draft just ended up about 6 deep.

It's the new landscape of the NFL draft. In previous years, with the insane rookie salaries, it was madness to trade like this. but now that the teams no longer have the specter of being reamed by rookies and their agents, they are more free to trade like this.

That being said, we sure can look back now at the Patriots moves during recent drafts and see the genius to it....
