Pats WR Randy Moss Expects To Move On After Next Year.

Moss, 33, said Saturday he expects next season to be his last in New England, the National Football Post reports. Moss is heading into the last year of his contract and said he does not expect the Patriots to offer him an extension. "You know the Patriots don't really pay ... I understand the business," Moss said. "I don't think they're going to re-sign me back. I'm not mad. I'm not bitter. It's just the way things are in this NFL, so like I said after this year I'll be looking for a new team. I think so."

Moss seems to have a pretty good grasp of the situation. But what happens after another full season with the Pats. How big a contributor can he be. Do you hope your favorite team has him on speed dial?

33 is a little old to be looking for a big raise. He needs to stay with a good team with a good QB and start thinking about his legacy.

He could be a New England "ring of honor" if he stays.

Depending on how big of a team player he can be and what Miami's WR situation is, I wouldn't mind him wearing a Fins uniform. Would he be The Guy? No, I don't believe so. But he could be a situational player at WR and maybe be a returner.

R.Moss needs to go to a team with a great QB and system or he will fail to impress and wont put out 100%

49ers wont get the best of Moss with less than a quality QB so i dont see it happening.

Cowboy's, Colts, New Orleans, back to Minnesota with Favre sure to return, Philly, N.Y.Giants etc..... would get the the most out of
R.Moss talent because of the QB situation's.

Let's all keep in mind that Randy Moss is talking about the season after next. Meaning that he'll be 35 at the time. He said that he expects next season to be his last with the Pats.

No, this is his last year with the team. He said he expects to be looking for a new team so long as there's not a lockout.

"Moss, 33, said Saturday he expects next season to be his last in New England..."

This means that next year (2010-2011), he expects to still be a Patriot. He'll be turning 35 come 2012. Like you said though, that's if there's no lock out, in that case, it's one more year, making him 36 before he finds a new uniform.

I took it to mean the upcoming 2010 season will be his last w/NE. Have to research his contract status, I suppose. Either way, for him to expect a raise or fat payday is pretty ridiculous whether he's 34, 35, or 36. Extension of his current deal? Sure.

Unless a better situation presents itself for him to get a ring (which who knows if that matters to him or not?), just stay put where the window is still open for a few more years.

Personally I think NE's window is rather firmly closed. I think Belichick knows this and is going to go into a rebuilding cycle for another decade run.

The Pats should trade him after that comment... He may or may not give 100%. He is still a top ten WR and would definetly get a good trade. Trade him to Houston. AJ and Moss deep threat combo will be crazy.

rotoworld,
Updating a previous report in which Randy Moss fired agent Tim DiPiero, Moss plans on playing out the rest of his football career without an agent.

Playing without a representative isn't completely unheard of in the NFL, as Moss' former teammate, Dante Culpepper, hasn't had an agent for several years. Although the Pro Bowl wideout could save money in the short term, early speculation dictates that this move could prove to be pound-foolish.

rotoworld,
Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston says Randy Moss' contract is likely only the third highest priority for the Patriots on their to-do list.

We agree, and that's why Moss is very unlikely to get a deal before next February at the earliest. Tom Brady and Logan Mankins are first in line. At this point, we'd bet against Moss being with the Patriots in 2011, although they could use the franchise tag to keep him.

legacy.

New England "ring of honor"

Why would he care about these things?

He has one more pay day left in his career. He needs to cash in one more time and not give that up for intangibles like "legacy" or New England centric accolades.

Some team will sign him for 2 yrs and 10Mill+ and he should grab it.

rotoworld,
Randy Moss says he will pursue new representation after firing Tom DiPiero last week.

Moss, 33, made it clear that he intends to continue his career. The agent firing isn't a sign that he's ready to hang 'em up. "The way it was brought to my attention was that it seemed like I’m retiring," he said. "I have no intention of retiring soon. I wanted to let fans know, this is my year. I’m going to play the year, I’m not coming in to start any conflicts or be disgruntled."
