Sorry if the advice sounded condescending.

I get carried away sometimes.

Funny part is, I pretty much suck at FF.

The short answer to your question is: I'd take Calvin and VJax (not mentioned).

Your advice did not sound condescending at all. My comment was mostly aimed at Zack and Storminorm, who seemed to be turning this into a PPR and ADP discussion, which I feel I am on solid ground with. I just wanted to steer it back to the original post.

Thanks for the answer. VJax is someone I believe Phic mentioned earlier. I did consider including him in the options that I originally listed.

A Rodgers and Mendenhall. The WRs will be there 3,4 and 5 round. In my drafts I usually could grab at least 2 of the following WRs in the 3rd and 4th round. Dez Bryant, Brandon Marshall, Wes Welker, Vincent Jackson B. Lloyd and sometimes R. Wayne. At 6 points a TD for QBs Rodger could be the #1 player in FF easily. You will have a solid RB in Mendenhall and 2 stud WRs. Any of those can make it to the top 10 WRs if not the top 5 in PPR. Usually by th 36th pick the best RBs are Green, R. Mathrews and D. Williams. Rookies like D. Thomas and Ingram will be there also but do you really want a rookie RB to be your #1 RB.

Good stuff there JackG. If I could get Vincent Jackson at the next turn I would be thrilled. The others aren't to shabby either. I see you like Mendy better than D-Mac. He has been more dependable in the past, and I would not have to use as high of a pick if I wanted to cuff him with Redman.

I actually want to pick from the 12 this year just for that reason. Because of the WRs available in the 3rd and 4th. Mendenhall is way safer then DMac.

Let's complicate things a little further. Your question is based on the "speculation" of what players will be available. I listed 3 mock drafts below (top 3 were the same so I removed them for ease of viewing). Look over the 3 drafts and see how it might affect how you play your turn around pick.

4 Charles, Jamaal
5 Rice, Ray
6 Vick, Michael
7 Rodgers, Aaron
8 Turner, Michael
9 Jones-Drew, Maurice
10 Manning, Peyton
11 McCoy, LeSean

4 Ray Rice
5 LeSean McCoy
6 Maurice Jones-Drew
7 Jamaal Charles
8 Steven Jackson
9 Andre Johnson
10 Roddy White
11 Matt Forte

4 Ray Rice
5 Jamaal Charles
6 LeSean McCoy
7 Andre Johnson
8 Roddy White
9 Michael Turner
10 Maurice Jones-Drew
11 Aaron Rodgers

Draft #1 is QB heavy, #2 is RB heavy and #3 is more balanced.

Does watching 3 QBs fly off in the 1st round change your strategy. How about 9 of the top 10 RBs...Make you nervous?

I've done all this and really don't have an answer to my own question, but the point might come out that it's premature to make your turn around decision at all until you've seen what happens ahead of you.

I still like the idea of double dipping at the turn around but in the case of Draft #1 I might double dip RBs since you have better RBs to choose from or you could take AJ and White and have the 1 & 2 wr's.

What would your 1:12/ 2:1 look like in each of the above cases?

Good questions.

Draft #1 seemed like an easy choice for me. I'd take Andre Johnson and Roddy White without hesitation.

Draft #2 was a little tougher. I'd probably take Rodgers and then a long pause. After the long pause I think I would go with Mendenhall or McFadden, but Calvin Johnson or Nicks would also be in my thoughts. Probably Mendenhall, I like JackG's reasoning for him.

Draft #3 seems the toughest. I'm leaning towards Mendy and Vick, but CJ and D-Mac and Nicks are all also being considered. I think Gore is one of the best RB's in the game, but my perceived lack in their passing game and my fear of him being injured have caused him to end up on my "do not draft" list, whether it is warranted or not.

You really made me think on the last two drafts, Tekkie. Yes it is premature to think about this, but preparation is a big key to the draft. That is why I posed this question to everyone. If I can get these situations figured out before they come up it will give me a ton of confidence going into the draft.

Seems there are many who would go WR/WR, but not everyone. Like JackG said, this leaves slim pickings at RB. I am leaning towards one RB and one WR at my 1st turn, keeping me flexible for any combo of RB,WR,TE, and QB in my 2nd turn. Just take the best that falls to me. This league does have 2 flex spots, RB/WR and WR/TE. This leaves me with a chance to have 4 WR's in my starting line-up every week. It also is making me think about taking Gates and Clark, Witten, or Finley at the 2nd turn just to see what happens. Funny how my sick mind works sometimes.

I'm kind of surprised that nobody seems to be as high on McFadden as I am. He really broke out last year, and I think Hue Jackson sees how special he can be and will game plan for him. The patented Raider vertical threat can really get him open in space in the passing game.

Hey, this guy's good.

Coach Hue Jackson confirmed that he changed the Raiders' rushing style in part to fit Darren McFadden's skill set.
Before Jackson took over as offensive coordinator, the Raiders were running a strict zone-blocking scheme that required patience. Now they run a downhill power-blocking system in which McFadden is asked to get downhill -- something he does quicker than and more explosively than most backs in the league. With Jackson firmly in Run-DMC's corner, the sky is the limit.

Yeah, I'm also thinking about QB and TE in the 3rd/4th turn, along with many other possibilities.

Who would you take out of the suggested players available with your 1st 2 picks in my original question?

that's really a matter of preference, but mendy and c johnson seem to be in the best overall situation and would be my choices.

Well, to my surprise Andre Johnson and Roddy White just happened to fall right to me, and I snatched them up as soon as the 11th pick was off the board (thanks for scenario #1 Tekkie). I was a little scared what my RB situation would end up looking like, especially after taking Finley in round 4 (JackG had me scared about this), but happy with the way it turned out. Actually I love my team. Good old post draft euphoria I guess. Thanks to everyone for all of the opinions that were given.

In a 12 team PPR league, this is what I ended up with:

QB: Stafford, Roethlisberger
RB: F. Jones, Greene, Hightower, Tolbert, Sproles, Choice
WR: AJ, Roddy, Britt, Burleson, E. Sanders
TE: Finley, Hernandez

The last pick was Choice, as I wanted a handcuff for 1 of my RB's, Helu is still available. If anyone thinks he would be a better "choice", let me know.

Thanks Coach, I couldn't believe the value that kept dropping to me. Your draft tips about letting the draft come to you is probably my favorite article that I have seen here, although there are many other good ones here at SO.
