I wonder if this has anything to do with the report of Derrick Mason (along with two other WR) voicing his displeasure to T-Rex about offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer over how long A.Johnson will be out.
I think Mason must have worn out his welcome in NY, the Jets WR corps was not that deep to begin with, and Rexy said early on he expected Mason to catch 80 balls this year, yet he has barely a dozen over the first five games. I suspect there are multiple underlying factors involved here, but I do not think you trade away Mason this early for a 7th round pick unless you are essentially "getting rid" of him

He only played in 2 or 3 plays last week and it was reported that he was being "disciplined" I was weary of Mason to begin with considering that Baltimore, who has less depth at WR compared to NYJ, cut him. I thought he may be a nice vet to help sanchez, much like brunnel, but apparently not.
i'm curious to see how he is used this week as reports are saying he will play (or be active) against his former team, the ravens . . . i'm also curious to see how the oline provides pass protection as this is really their 1st big test . . . wr david anderson was released after the signing of mason . . . and all reports on aj are encouraging . . . maybe this will light a fire under jj though . . .
This is more of a statement about how poor of a route runner jacoby jones is. Looks to me like they will simply use the best of Jacoby in the return game, and let Mason and Walter run routes.
