-- Giants Injury Update --
Wed Aug 4, 2010 --from FFMastermind.com
The Star Ledger reports the results of the MRI on Giants WR Hakeem Nicks' knee won't be known until the image is read by doctors on Wednesday morning, according to someone who spoke with Nicks Tuesday night about the injury. But the person, who requested anonymity because the Giants are waiting for final examination results before releasing any the final diagnosis, said Nicks is telling friends and teammates his knee feels okay and that he doesn't believe he suffered a severe injury when he hyperextended the joint late in Tuesday afternoon's practice. The Giants are likely being cautious about releasing a preliminary diagnosis after their trainers thought WR Domenik Hixon had avoided a torn knee ligament following a fall during minicamp in June. (Hixon also thought he had dodged serious injury, though he admitted the knee felt "weird.") An MRI revealed Hixon tore his anterior cruciate ligament and his season was over. The examinations and MRI taken of C Shaun O’Hara’s injured left ankle Tuesday afternoon revealed no serious issues, according to someone informed of the results of O’Hara’s visit to the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. The person, who requested anonymity because the team hasn’t released any information on the tests or exams, said O’Hara has suffered no damage to any bones, the joint or to his Achilles tendon. O’Hara will likely head back – or perhaps already is on his way back – here to UAlbany to rejoin his teammates. It’s unclear if there has been a date set for his expected return to practice. WR Mario Manningham (groin) and TE Travis Beckum (hamstring) missed practice again. S Kenny Phillips (knee/PUP) remains out. Phillips did tell me he’s still looking at early next week as a possible return date. And OL Kevin Boothe (pec/PUP) is also out.Wed Aug 4, 2010 --from FFMastermind.com
