Honestly, why would anyone want Jimmy other than for a back-up? Seriously. You can't count on him to stay healthy and it has become painfully obvious that he will never be the same QB as he was before he tore his ACL. Maybe mental, but still, performance is pretty crappy, especially considering his situation is pretty good overall as far as coaching philosophy and talent around him.
Quarterbacking is a funny thing. Mahomes looked like an all time great when everything around him was perfect. Great system and coach, great weapons around him and an o-line that protected him well. Now, line is shaky, his only real weapons are Hill and Kelce (who while still putting up good stats definitely seems banged up or has just lost a gear). Doesn't look that exceptional this year.
Need. Pure and simple need.
I agree on Mahomes, but then again, what Qb IS good with no O-line? Kelce is aging, and teams are double covering Hill. This is what happens when teams overpay the Qb. Not saying Mahomes doesn't deserve $$ but he crippled the team to add talent.
As for Rookies, look who is playing well...
Herbert - rookie last year, 2nd year this year - team had tools, and defense was solid - but injuries killed them. O-line was addressed and they are healthy and much improved.
Hurts - 2nd round pick - but had Wentz holding him back and an aging hurt OLine- no Wrs either.
Tagovailoa - first round pick and he is getting beat up by poor Oline.
Lawrence - Same thing, lack of tools - no O-line
Fields - Same
Lance - injuries have killed their O-line
Mac Jones - is only one really showing growth, due to team building O-line and def.
Denver, Pittsburgh, Washington, Carolina and a few others HAVE to get a QB and this years draft class isn't that strong.
