This MVP stuff always agrivates me.....the MVP stands for MOST VALUABLE PLAYER....not most valuable player on a winning team. And for the record this isn't a pro Foster post...just a general thought...and I know no one will ever whisper his name but the year J. Charles had should not be ignored...being less than an inch from breaking Jim Browns record deserves its own merits.
BUT....valuable in a professional sports league HAS to equate to wins.......how else are they valuable if they do not help a team win? Stats are not valuable to NFL teams.....WINS are. So if someone is simply racking up stats yet it does not equal wins for his team I have a hard time believing they are really that valuable.
Foster had a great offensive year and when talking about offensive player of the year, I give him great consideration. However all his yards led his team to a 6 win season....that is just the facts. That is not very valuable if you ask me.
The name you tossed out there, Jaamal Charles, I would vote him for MVP before I would vote for Foster. IMO, he was of more VALUE to his team and led them to something of VALUE which is wins. Vick is who I would vote #2, again, I think he changed the dynamics of that team and is the reason they are in position to make a run in the playoffs. Rodgers is another one I would have on a ballot over Foster.
I know there is a separate award, but on the defensive side of the ball I think I would lean to James Harrison over Clay Matthews and Ray Lewis.
