My name is Harvey Unga! Who am I?

rotoworld,
Bears selected BYU RB/FB Harvey Unga in the seventh-round of Thursday's supplemental draft.

Coordinator Mike Martz doesn't use a traditional lead blocker, but he appreciates a big back with pass catching ability. We've seen nothing to suggest that Unga will be a better prospect than tweeners such as Brian Leonard or Peyton Hillis, so fantasy owners should temper their enthusiasm for his long-term value. He may end up on the Bears' practice squad after missing an opportunity to learn Martz's complicated scheme in spring workouts.

:banghead: I really thought the Bengals might grab him to be a backup to Benson....dang it!

He will slip to the practice squad and probably get claimed by another team. This pick by the Bears makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

This is JUST speculation.

but I am wondering if they have soured on Forte.

why?

I think with the addition of Martz, they want a more open passing game. The o-line isn't built to pound the ball as in the past. Add to that the big FA signing of Taylor, who basically has Forte recieving skill but better running capabililty. But he is older. Perhaps they are fishing for a future replacement for both? Unga supposedly has great hands...and could fill that receiving back role.

I have heard rumbles lately as well that Forte is no longer locked in as the starter.

Granted...i am adding rumors and putting things together that might not be related....but you never know. I think Chicago has made some very bad decisions at rb. Why let a Thomas Jones go to keep Benson for ex.

I grabbed him as FA in our Hired Guns dynasty league. I figure worst case I can stash him on our development squad...so he won't hurt my cap, but I can protect him if he does well.

I have said it earlier....I am not sure Forte isn't dropping out...and Taylor will take over(I have him as well though...so I AM biased.. ;) )that leaves a great opening for Unga to develop in chitown

I just don't know if it's Forte or Taylor this year. But I do know that backs under Martz's offense have done pretty well.

JoeBryant,

CHI - Harvey Unga could see time at FB
Source: Brad Biggs - NationalFootballPost.com

The Chicago Bears may try to use RB Harvey Unga at fullback during training camp, reports Brad Biggs, of NationalFootballPost.com.

OUR VIEW

Some were hyping Unga as a potential feature back in the pros, but we just don't see it. He's a big back, who is difficult to bring down once he gets a head of steam. However, Unga is not creative, agile, or elusive in the open field. He is a proven receiver out of the backfield, and could play as a pass catching fullback for the Bears.

Unba! Unga is done for the season. This is the last story I get to post about the NFL player with my favorite name. But there's always next year...

cbssports.com,
RB Harvey Unga had his rookie season cut short before the first preseason game Thursday when the Bears placed him on IR with a hamstring injury. Unga, a power back, was a seventh-round selection in the supplemental draft this summer.

Analysis: Consider it a "redshirt" for Unga, who was unlikely to land a lot of work this season in the Bears offense anyway. He's not worth drafting in any league for now.
