I know your pain......
yeah, not buying that one at all Mike....these are not long kicks these donkey's are missing. They are VERY makable kicks. This is their only job.....DO IT!
They have all of the pressure, and none of the glory. The credit still goes to the Qb or Rb who put them in FG position. You don't see Coaches and owners canning Rb's for fumbles or Qb's for Ints. They need to make their kicks, but the kickers would perofrm better if they felt they could be human and keep a job. It's all about the money. They don't make any. The skill positions do so they don't get canned for their mistakes.
I hate this saying...their job isn't only kicking the field goals, they also have to do kick offs and extra points. And when they fail, they fail. It sucks. They get more ridicule than any other position.
Kickers get no respect and it's bullshit! A quarterback gets picked off! Isn't his job to throw passes and touchdowns and NOT GET PICKED OFF! that's their job...DO IT! A running back is supposed to run the ball, score touchdowns and not get tackled. That's their job...DO IT! A wide receiver's job is to catch footballs and score touchdowns. That's their job...DO IT!
If a QB throws a pick in the endzone that would have won them the game, does anyone walk away from him like he has a disease like they would a kicker who missed a field goal? Nope...they say hey man, it's okay, you're still a great QB. When a kicker misses it, they ignore him and he sits by himself at the end of the bench. Kickers FG percentage is often better than most passing percentages at the end of a season anyways. Jeeze, leave them alone. They do a good job and if they miss, it happens.
:crying: Their only job is to kick the damn ball.....yes they kickoff, and they do XP's....that is part of making their damn kicks!! You want to feel sorry for the kickers, fine, but they make damn good scratch to show up, kick a ball a couple of times and go back to the sidelines. It is by far the easiest position on the field......you just have to handle the pressure of from time to time the game resting on your leg.I hate this saying...their job isn't only kicking the field goals, they also have to do kick offs and extra points. And when they fail, they fail. It sucks. They get more ridicule than any other position.

These kickers have gone soft, and it's costing good teams football games, it's a damn shame. Again, we are not taking long or difficult kicks! We are talking 30-45 yd kicks that these guys should be able to make with ease....they are simply pissing down their legs.
Yep, you want credit, make clutch kicks. You want to be the goat.....miss them, especially in the playoffs.Vinitieri probably got more positive publicity than any kicker in NFL history. Guess why? He made clutch kicks including the best kick I ever saw against the Raiders. 43 yards in a friggin blizzard. Great kick...............
A ton of pressure is placed on a kicker these days. In the past, points were never so important. Take a look at how many kicks are made from long distance as opposed to previous years.
The league has made it easy for offenses to get between the 20's, and virtually screwed up the game.
the entire fabric of the NFL has been screwed up by rule changes. Drives that used to stall at midfield are now stalling farther into opponents territory, resulting in more field goal attempts, and more importantly, more long field goal attempts.
During this time, nothing has been made easier on the kicker. They simply have to kick from longer distances, and have faster guys coming to block the kicks, and the fear of the dreaded timeout.
Big play touchdowns get more attention than 1 yard runs from the goal line. Missed field goals get more attention than made field goals in most cases ( because they are coming from longer distances)
rule changes are screwing up football, because they are being made for the casual fan.
You aren't seriously comparing a kicker to a QB or a RB are you?
