And in the spirit of moving on, the Bengals draft Andy Dalton. He has a new weapon in AJ Green as they prepare to move on from the TO experiment and possibly the COC era as well. Looks like the turning of a page in Cincy......long term, this may be a good thing. Short term, this team could struggle for a couple years through this transition.

Dalton, Gresham, Simpson, Green, Shipley... Bengals might have the youngest offense in the league. They will need a leader out there, and I'm not sure Benson can be that.

Cincy is moving in the right direction and will be better once the TO/COC/Palmer train wreck is gone. But in that division trying to be competitive might be the best they will do next season.

Its going to be rough, but lets look at the listed names:

Dalton - All this guy does is win, and he has a great head on him. Started nearly out the gate at TCU. I dont think he will shy from the challenge.
Gresham - Outstanding TE who overcame his knee issue to make it. Played big at OU.
Simpson - Bided his time and when the lights finally came on bright, he was on the level COC used to be.
Green - Guy played in the SEC, got knocked OUTTTTTTT and still kept coming to play. No fear here.
Shipley - Best WR in the State when he came out of HS, and overcame injury and adversity to become a premier WR.

Point being, none of these 5 are going to get scared by the logo on another helmet, and Dalton/Shipley have plenty of leadership qualities.

Okay a few things here.

First, I am not a Dalton fan, but I hope he is what everyone thinks he is.

As for talent, you can't beat what they have now. With Green, Shipley, Simpson, Caldwell and the TE Greshem, they have halacious tools. I also hope they use Scott out of the backfield more for receptions as well. So Dalton or whoever they get to let Dalton learn will have tools to work with.

Keep one other fact in mind though - Ocho, Caldwell and Simpson are on thier last year of contract, and Benson is a FA. They need to fix this, and drop Ocho, and re-sign the others. Or get a solid back in FA.

Id ship off COC and Benson.

Lewis is out already saying their #1 target is to re-sign Benson. I personally would love to see them spend to get DeAngelo Williams, but who knows? I do know they have to do something since they didn't target a back in the draft.
