Mark Ingram - Draft Projection - NFL Impact
Mark Ingram

  • Weight - 215
  • 40 Time - 4.58
2010 Stats:

Draft Projection - Top 20 Pick

NFL Impact - Ingram is a back in the mold of Maurice Jones-Drew, a smaller back who can bang and has enough speed to turn the corner, though not "elite" speed. One of Ingram's hallmarks is his elite ball security, a must for an NFL back. Ingram hits the hole with authority, and had the fastest 10 yard split time of any back at the combine. In the age of the two back system, Ingram is a guy you can pair with just about any back in the NFL and should see the field from opening day. Ingram may not have the fastest 40 time or the biggest frame, but I think he is the safest choice.

According to NFL Network's Mike Lombardi, teams have growing concerns about the health of Alabama RB Mark Ingram's knee.

The 2009 Heisman winner had a knee scope just prior to the 2010 season. Lombardi suggested that Ingram has an arthritic condition which could cause him to be scratched off some boards, and said "I think it could cause him to slip (in the draft)." Lombardi already didn't think Ingram was a first-round lock. We've tentatively moved Ingram to No. 33 overall in our mock.

I was aware of the knee issue. I saw him run at the combine. He is explosive right out of the gate, then slows a little. But the explosiveness is great. He can explode through the holes that his linemen make for him.

I don't think he will do well, the knee and the fact he is a "plodder" scares me. I would rather wait a round or two and grab some of the other Rbs.

I still think he is the safest choice.

If someone told you Eddie George would be as good as he was, and then at year 5 that was pretty much it, would you have wanted him on your team at the cost of a 1st round pick??

I think if someone got 5 years out of Ingram at a level like that it would well worth it.

Rotoworld:
NFL Network's Mike Lombardi reports that at least two running back-needy teams have removed Alabama RB Mark Ingram from their draft boards.

"I've had two teams tell me the knee is very bad," said Lombardi. "He won't be on their boards. They're teams that need running backs." Mike Mayock is also "not so sure" Ingram will be a first-rounder. The consensus is that there's better value on mid-round backs, as opposed to Ingram in the first. Look for the Patriots to have a chance to draft Ingram at No. 33 overall.

Not to take anything away from this talented young RB, but..............

A couple things i noticed after watching the highlights vid is either his OL he ran behind was straight up badass opening huge holes for him to run through or the DL of the opponents were not great at sealing up the gaps or the edges and the few times he was meet at the line of scrimmage during the vid Ingram was stopped cold, i would have liked to see him pick his way through holes a little more to see if the patience is there to wait for an opening instead of just blasting through.

M.Leshoure at least during game film that ive seen looks way better than M.Ingram.

My humble observation

Just read this quote on nfl rumors at ESPN. This is huge, if he really has a bad knee, teams won't touch him. I also don't think he goes in first round now. No way.
