Mallett to NE.....Thoughts?

Ill say I did NOT see that one coming.....

Wonder what Brady thinks about this? (Not like he is REALLY worried).

If you're a Mallett fan, this was probably the best place for him to land and have law and order restored in his life. Bellicheck and Brady wont let him act like a dumbass, and I imagine he will be signing with them for alot less money than another man in his position.

Good pick, solid backup for Brady-eventually- and in time will take the helms from Brady when he calls it quits. Just thought this, when they brought Brady in they already had a good QB who shortly after became odd man out. Don't think they are doing this again do ya? Mallet has the tools to become a good QB just needs a better attitude. Being here is best for him to sit back and learn from one of the greatest in the game today.

Okay this is just absolutely perfect. A great talent, that can spend a couple of years learning from a top flight Qb, who shows control, and plays team concept.

However, keep this in thought as well. Bengals were rumored to be dealing Chad to them........................................................................................................................
just saying ;)

I hate this pick! It's horrible! Not because I think the Pats made a mistake, quite the contrary! Now those bastards are going to be good for another ****ing decade! Gahhhh, I hate Boston!

what in the hell do you all see in Ryan Mallett??? Big arm.....bad decisions....immature......not a good leader.....forget the mobility, it's the least of his issues. Some have it, some don't. Mallett will never be more than a back-up IMO.

Funny how you change the names and the shoe still fits....

Mallet's the surest starter in the whole draft.

OK....I'll bite.....again, what do you see in him? He's not a leader.....he's not mature.....his decision making is poor.....so outside of the cannon, what do you like? JaMarcus Russel had a cannon.....so did Ryan Leaf.......you need to be able to do more in the NFL then throw the ball a long ways.

He was a leader, he carried the Razorbacks in that ball game. He has the best skills, arm and head of ANY of the Qbs in this draft. Again, the only knocks if supposed off field, that ONLY showed up during the draft and changed every other week. I KNOW you saw the bowl game this year, I KNOW you had to see how relentless OSU's defense was on him, and he almost pulled off a great win.

Your joking right......if your argument is the OSU game where the Bucks exposed him for the mediocre QB he is then were just going to have to agree to disagree. Look at his last two game against two of the better D's he faced all year and look at what they did to him.

vs LSU - 13 of 23 (56.5%) for 320 yds 3 TD and 2 INT
vs OSU - 24 of 47 (51.1%) for 277 2 TD and 1 INT

sub 57% competion % in both spots. And to call him a leader is a joke.....his intangibles leave A LOT to be desired. Guys like Colt McCoy.....Tim Tebow.....Andy Dalton....even Jake Locker......those guys are leaders, I've seen nothing but an immature hot head who is not ready for the pressure of the NFL out of Mallett. Guess we will see. He could not have asked for the better situation, if you can't be gorromed to succeed in NE then there is no hope at all for you.

I can buy McCoy. Locker is more a hot head and pass the blame then Mallett. Dalton who knows. Then again, who has he played?

Tebow is more of a joke than Locker, and god...is that saying something.

Only time will tell who is right and who is wrong. In one sense I feel bad for Locker, if he is pushed to start this year, and Dalton for that matter, since neither are ready to start. It will only cause their failure more.

Mallett has time(assuming he stays and is not trade bait for someone....) to see and learn the game from a pro, on a team that knows how to get the most from folks.

Advantage Mallett.

No, Mallet is very much a leader, and his decision making is better than any other QB in this draft, along with his arm. What QBs like Kaepernick, and Newton have are legs which is why they were successful in college. Teams had to game plan for their versatility. Mallet is a true pocket passer and has all of the elements that every coach in the NFL begs every other QB to have. He had a 64.7% completion last year, and threw 32 TDs and 12 INTs (69 TDs and 24 INTs in 2 years). That's really good.

And I'm so sick of hearing this "Ohio ST. really exposed Mallet this year!" Bull shit. They didn't. Mallet was under a ton of pressure, and he did not choke. In fact, he preformed very well under pressure, and got his WRs the ball in windows that were tiny as hell. His problem was the cast around him. The players at ARK over the last couple of years have blown. There were at least 8 dropped balls in that game, and he would have definitely been in a position to win had they thrown him a damn bone.

The game is on ESPN3.com. I dare anyone to go back and watch and count all 8 dropped balls. Re-crunch those #s from that game if his players catch the ball. One of them would have been a TD too, because the WR had no one in front of him. You'd be looking at a performance of 32 of 47 (68%), 300+, 3 TD and 1 INT. That, is a great day.

Mallet is better than everyone else.

First I fully agree!

Second is on the first paragraph - I remember a time when Qbs were MEANT to be in the pocket. You don't need to be mobile, you need to read quickly, and if you don't have anyone open, you don't force it, you throw it away out of bounds. What happened to that being rewarded??? Mallett does this.

That totally drives me crazy, Phic. Everyone wants their QBs to read plays, make quick decisions, step up in the pocket, not take a sack, and pass first! However when we're given a QB that does all of those things correctly everyone freaks out and says he's doing it wrong. Make up your minds! If you want a pocket passer, Mallet is the guy. If you want a running QB Mallet is not your guy. But don't chose both.
