Lions QB Matthew Stafford To Have A Bigger Bag Of Tricks This Year

My mistake. The print is small enough I should have put on my reading glasses. Hines is #15.

Here's their top 12:
AJ
Fitz
R Moss
Austin
Wayne
Roddy
Sidney Rice
Smith NYG
Jennings
DeSean
Colston
Megatron

It would be nice for Megatron to slide that far in the draft. But in reality, I don't think he will. He is definitely top 5.

This is the first part of a multi-part series covering the Difference Makers in Detroit for the 2010 NFL season

Amid his 20 interceptions and a paltry rating of 61.0, you'll have to forgive Matthew Stafford's first year statistical results.

After all, in a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately league, everyone knows that the rookie season for an NFL quarterback is a bit of a free pass. Especially when the team they're expected to revive was clinically dead for an entire year.

Yet Stafford's birth into the league, marred by destitute conditions, including, but certainly not limited to, abuse, a poor supporting cast, and more failure

cbssports.com,
The Detroit News reports there's some pressure on Lions QB Matthew Stafford to play well in his second year. The report states that the Lions are only going as far as Stafford can take them. He's no longer a rookie battling for a starting position, like he was during last year's camp. He's been given the keys to the offense and has had an entire offseason to tune up. But Stafford has to play better than last year when he had 20 interceptions in 10 games and completed 53.3 percent of his passes. The story says "he needs to be a lot better than that."

Analysis: We agree, and Stafford should be ready for an improved season, where he only threw 13 touchdowns and was limited with knee and shoulder injuries. He's expected to be 100 percent for the start of the year and has an improved receiving corps, which features Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson, Tony Scheffler and Jahvid Best. We like Stafford as a No. 2 Fantasy QB, and he's worth a late-round pick in all leagues.

Also remember how horrendous the o-line was last year. How can you expect a kid fresh out of college playing against guys much bigger and better, and have an awful o-line to play really good? I think he played pretty damn well for what he had around him.

Now this year you add Best, a healthy Megatron and a WR2 in Burleson, not to mention Scheffler and Pettigrew. If he is not rushed in the pocket on every play, there will be an immediate improvement. I like Stafford this year to put up some decent numbers.
