Lions QB Matthew Stafford To Have A Bigger Bag Of Tricks This Year

Lions coach Schwartz has been saying that Stafford limited by the weapons he had last season. He says Stafford was capable of performing at a higher level but often the Lions didn't have the personnel to run a wide open playbook. Hopefully with some better pieces surrounding him Stafford will be using a bigger playbook/ bag of tricks going onto this season.

From what I've read they are planning on opening up the playbook for him this season Coach. It would help if they could keep a healthy RB to keep the defenses honest.

rotoworld,

Lions WR Calvin Johnson has recovered from his 2009 injuries, and the work he's put in this offseason with QB Matthew Stafford is showing on the field. The two have improved communication with each other, likely the result of working together four days a week.

Us (Outlaws) vs. Fantasy Football today, Football Guys, Football Gurus, The Toolbox, and a few other boards. 96 team (12 to a board) 8 draft mele where you can draft in all 8 drafts as there are 8 copies of every player. Team work draft that beats any and all on the net. WQe basically own it!

Sounds like I'd need a PHD to play. Thanks but my computer time isn't dependable enough to get involved with a team effort.

Couldn't agree more. The off season work coupled with an improved offensive line, legit #2 wr and tight end(s) when healthy, and a homerun threat in the backfield make me think both Stafford and Megatron can make serious noise this season.

Yep, I am really starting think about this wagon. The fact that the defense is still lacking helps.

I can't wait for this year! Lions have more weapons. Stafford gets a bigger playbook. If Best can stay healthy for the entire year, the offense will be awesome!

And still they have a less than great defense meaning the offense will need to score, score, score. The Lion fantasy players could put up really good numbers.

(cbssports.com)The Detroit Free-Press reports Lions QB Matthew Stafford and WR Calvin Johnson are starting to develop a solid rapport. "We've got to keep working," Stafford said. "But I feel like we're getting on the same page more and more. He knows what I'm looking at, I know what he's looking at and it's getting better." Stafford and Johnson couldn't develop much chemistry last offseason because Stafford didn't join the veterans until May, then didn't get all the reps with the first team until September. Johnson missed much of training camp because of injury. "They've been at it strong since mid-March, so we should be seeing stuff like that," coach Jim Schwartz said.

Analysis: If Stafford and Johnson can stay healthy then Johnson should be in for a big year. We like Johnson as a No. 1 Fantasy WR, and he's worth drafting as early as Round 3 in all leagues.

Not a Lions fan but it would be nice to see them have a winning season this year. And most importantly beat Dallas on Thanksgiving day.
