(TheHuddle) Kevin Seifert, of ESPN.com, reports the Detroit Lions have agreed to terms with unrestricted free-agent DE Kyle Vanden Bosch on a four-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed. Vanden Bosch confirmed the agreement during a radio interview.
Analysis: Lions coach Jim Schwartz, who was Vanden Bosch's defensive coordinator in Tennessee, made an in-person pitch to the free agent defensive end that clearly proved effective. Now Vanden Bosch will have to prove he can stay healthy to live up to his $26 million contract, which reportedly includes $10 million in the first year.

WOW! I like it. I really would like to see the Lions improve a lot of the next few seasons. I am tired of watching them get kicked around. I would have the say last one of the best games was the Browns vs. the Lions. Exciting when you see two teams down at the bottom giving it their all trying to prove something.

Tell you what. I am kind of impressed.

they get much needed wr depth with burleson. Fix a dire need at DE with Vandenbosch.

They are sitting ready to take one of the two top DEs in the draft.

And can address teh O-line in the 2nd round now.

ONly real hole will be at RB if K. Smith can't be ready.

Nice job.

Will Grady be back and if so how is the line going to do? Grady, Casey Williams and Vanden Bosch - They now have some solid veteran players up front but as they are getting long in the tooth how will they hold up?

I wonder with the acquisition of Williams, if they still take McCoy or Suh? dunno:

Or do they finally address the Oline to protect the new Qb

A perfect move. Pass rushers are absolutely vital in this division since they draw Aaron Rodgers, Cutler, and possibly Favre twice each.
They'll take one of the DT's at 2, that's almost a given, as they can still get a nice o-lineman in the 2nd if they choose. Still have to stop the run against A.Peterson, Grant, and Forte/Chester Taylor as well.
RB (as I'm beating into the ground) is very deep in this draft and they could easily get a potential starter in round 3.

I'm hoping they stay focused on the DL and take whichever of the two fall to them. Not saying the OL doesn't need help but this is an opportunity to suddenly turn a weakness into a strength. With Grady gone they need another player and both of those rookies have the promise to be the longterm building block.

I am glad they resigned Jansen - he is not the player he was but is still solid depth for that OL.

They still need to go DL with the first round pick. You can't pass on that talent. But now they can go OL with the second round pick. I could see them taking a RB, if no FA aquisition, in a later round.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Lions are on the verge of a trade for Falcons CB Chris Houston. Atlanta is expected to receive Detroit's sixth-round pick and switch places with the Lions in round five. Houston, the No. 41 overall selection in 2007, is immensely talented but fell out of favor last season despite starting more games than any Falcons cornerback. He is a press corner, which would fit well in Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham's man-to-man secondary.

Lions acquired DT Corey Williams and a 2010 seventh-round pick from the Browns in exchange for a fifth-round selection in the 2010 draft

Lions Signed WR Nate Burleson earlier.

I like them getting a CB becuase that was one of their defensive needs. That's one more pick they can use for O-line now.

In free agency? If so who do you think they will be looking at? Bodden is available again but just don't see that happening.
they have Houston and picked up one other Cb in Fa. both are better at man to man which Detroit will go to more. I think Stormin was pointing out that with these moves, they can focus on O-line more now in draft.

Now I can see them taking Okung in the first round.
