Joseph signs with Texans

Texans agreed to terms with CB Johnathan Joseph on a five-year contract.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Jets are now in the driver's seat for Nnamdi Asomugha. The Texans doggedly pursued both of the market's top cornerbacks, and did well to win one of the sweepstakes to shore up what was arguably the league's worst secondary in 2010. Joseph is still in his prime at age 27, has flashed shut-down potential in Cincinnati and has ball skills at least on par with Asomugha's. Coordinator Wade Phillips has turned defenses around quickly in the past, and he just landed a key piece to make it happen in Houston.

HOU just inked Manning too. The worst secondary in the NFL just got a lot better with Joseph and Manning

Wont happen now with the J.Joseph and D.Manning acquisition's, Asomugha is wanting to much $$$$ about 12 million a year, money better spent on these two IMO

Nope, this was instead of Asomugha. They won't lock up that much salary for one position. Add to that the signing of Manning from Chicago at Safety, and they are done in Fa for now I bet.

This was a GREAT move by the Texans. Joseph is four years younger than Aso and is a hell of a CB in his own right. This also allowed the signing of Daniel Manning to shore up the secondary, AND should allow the re-signing of FB Vonta Leach, the road paver for Arion Foster.

The Texans have a great offense, and these signings along move their defense up to a C+/B- type D. With that offense, thats all you really need.

Vonta Leach is probably the premier FB in the game today, and he deserves to be paid as such. The position has all but died in the college ranks, so when you have a good one...pay him.
