Please guys, lets hear it!

Caldwell is a dumbass. Every time the Colts do this crap they blow the first playoff game.

Not a fan of this move at all. Kills their momentum and has not worked in the past.

Not to mention, imagine all of the other wild card contenders....Jets now control their destiny with a win next week vs Cincy due to the Colts rolling over....

They did the same thing a couple of years ago and lost to the Titans which killed someones playoff spot. Might've been the Browns but I can't remember who

This is such crap. Pulling Peyton cost me my Championship game!!!:xpaddle::xpullhair:rant2:

WTF? The Colts just couldn't allow the Saints to go down by themselves this week? Someone in the locker room said "Ooh, I feel bad for New Orleans . Let's lose too so that we can continue our side-by-side 2009 streak together".

...Not to pull any credit from the Jets, they've played very well.

I'd love to say I "understand it" because we've been told that "understanding" this move is the "smart" thing to do. But I've got to say I simply can't "understand" it. Throwing away a chance to be perfect is not what the "game" is about.

Don't be silly. Dallas Clark (thanks to Peyton's arm) was the first TE to rack up 1000+ yards in franchise history with 93 receptions and 10 TDs. Just because Caldwell is an idiot today doesn't mean the players become non-draftable players next year.

I agree, you can not back off the Colts due to this. A guy in my local league traded him at the deadline due to this possibility.....the thing he forgot is you have to get there before you can worry about that, that trade cost him the playoffs and spot in the finals.....2nd is sure better than not making the playoffs....

Coming at you
Count me among those who don't get it. You have a chance to do what only one team has ever done. They keep talking like losing a game will take the pressure off. That's BS. Playoff pressure is you lose and you go home. Playing for a perfect season doesn't add any pressure.

In addition, since Peyton has never been injured in a game that I know of, why would he get hurt now? :headscratch:

Anyway, as a fan, it sucks. We like to see special things done, even if it's not our team. Those Colt fans looked none too happy............:shake:

I don't know why they did this again. Every time they have done this, they were flat for the playoffs and lost.

As for fantasy, all Colts players still have the same draft value and will be good all season. Just make sure you have a backup for them come playoff time.

This was a BS move by the Colts, and the fans are giving them exactly what they deserve. Polian's radio show had to be cut short do to being overrun with complaints and requests for ticket refunds.

Those that say the the fans should have no say in this quickly forget exactly who is making all of these people rich, from the owner, down to the equipment manager. It is the fans. Be it ticket sales, merchandise sales, or TV money that is directed toward advertising to the FANS.

And I don't for a second think this was Caldwell's call. Manning said before the game that he expected to play the full game, as long as it was competitive. The players were completely shocked by this, and vocally showing their displeasure after the fact (thank you Reggie Wayne for speaking your mind).

I think Management made this call, not before the game, but during the 3rd quarter. If Caldwell did plan this all along, and kept it from his players, good chance he burned some bridges in regards to trust.

and what a crappy way to introduce a rookie quarterback to the NFL. yank him off the practice squad, and throw him on the field, facing on of the top defenses in the league. Great confidence builder there.

I've loved the Colts since Johnny Unitas was in his prime. Then local boys Bert Jones and Peyton stepped under center and I continued pulling for them. I will be against the Colts this year in every playoff game they make it to. No skin off their back I'm sure but the stunt they pulled isn't what the game of football is all about. I left MLB when it quit being a game and I'm leaving the Colts now. Naive, perhaps but I have the right to feel how I feel.

Muddy, Muddy, Muddy.....<sigh>

First of all...Reggie Wayne could have gone off for 50 pts and you would have still lost.

Secondly....I know this will come as a shock to you, but the GM's, Presidents and Owners of teams really don't care about the fantasy football world. They are trying to make a living (and in some cases, trying to save their jobs).

Had Manning, Wayne or Addai gotten injured in week 16 can you just imagine the outrage from the fan base and the Colt's organization? "Why was he even on the field in a meaningless game"?

The coach would be hung out to dry.

The world doesn't revolve around your fantasy championship aspirations... Mindy.

Realize that the Colts did what they thought was best and they will live or die based on those decisions.

They didn't decide to bench guys just to screw you over.

You've never in your life been further off base from my point then you are tonight Tekie. My opinion here has not one whit to do with fantasy football. I doubt very much that fantasy football played any part in the desires of the players on the Colt team either.

Football is a sport, a game if you will. You play a game to win, do you not. What happened to the Black Socks when they chose to blow a game? You should have been a teenager back then I think?

You play a game to win, do you not.

So why does protecting the health of your star players not count as "playing to win"?

I guess we have different definitions of winning.

I'm sure the Colts players and fans would have loved to have a trophy that read:

Week 16 Winners vs NY Jets.

...but I think that all involved would rather have one that read: 2009 Super Bowl Champions.

i hated this too and initially felt they should have played thru the week 16 game and rested players for at least the 2nd half of week 17 . . . the more i think about it though, yeah, peyton and co might have completed yet another comeback victory, but the jets were in a do or die situation and it is quite possible someone could have got hurt . . . the super bowl victory is the goal.

when comparing manning and brady's stats, i believe the super bowl victories are the only thing brady has over manning . . . ;)
