HUGE Aaron Rodgers Dynasty League Trade help?

I am a replacement owner. It's a 16 team league. Someone came to me (a Packers fan) wanting to trade Peyton Manning for Aaron Rodgers (+players).

PS. 16 teams is ridiculous lol. Much crazier than 12 team leagues

Here are our main offensive rosters:

ME:
AARON RODGERS QB
MICHAEL CRABTREE WR
TERRELL OWENS WR
THOMAS JONES RB
CEDRIC BENSON RB
Correll Buckhalter RB
DALLAS CLARK TE
HINES WARD WR
DERRICK MASON WR
TONY SCHEFFLER DEN TE

HIM:
PEYTON MANNING QB
BRADY QUINN QB
CHAD HENNE QB
RODDY WHITE WR
STEVE SMITH CAR WR
BRAYLON EDWARDS WR
ADRIAN PETERSON RB
BRANDON JACOBS RB
MICHAEL BUSH RB
JUSTIN FARGAS RB
ARIAN FOSTER RB
KELLEN WINSLOW TB TE

We can also trade draft picks. I have the #10 pick, he has the #15.

Maybe I could try a package like:
Rodgers+Jones+Buckhalter+Mason+Ward+my first rounder for Manning+White+AP+Foster?

It's just a preliminary trade that I haven't really thought about...

I'm not asking for anyone to spend a long time analyzing stuff either; maybe just like "go for this guy and this guy" or something?

Dont do this until some of our guys get a chance to really review this.

My main concern is the trade of a great young QB for a great old QB. Then again, you could potentially make mass improvement on your team, so long as you draft the right QB of the future.....

Your in the driver seat, he wants Rogers so dont offer up so many players, throw him a bone but not so many.

Hold off on trying to get A.Foster to see first if S.Slaton gets back in form to regain his starting job

I agree with the concerns expressed about swapping QB's for the concerns mentioned.

Consider swapping the QB's and countering that with going with the much younger AP while offering up T. Jones. Argument could be made the decline in AP's touches... may continue if Favre returns for another season.

But I would make the offer so it looks like this

Rodgers, Jones, Mason and Scheffler

FOR

Manning, AP, Henne (gets you some much needed depth) and a draft pick

You cover yourself nicely at the QB position while still leaving him 2 of the top QBs on his roster. You get a serious upgrade at RB and can hope for the best with the draft pick.

If you can get anything, including Peyton Manning, take it and run.

If all you can get is a straight swap, take it and run!

Aaron Rodgers just competed against what is likely the easiest schedule he will ever compete against. The Packers will have lots of roster issues, most importantly, keeping 5,000 receivers.

Get Manning! He is the better quarterback, and you should never look more than 2-3 years ahead in this position with a dynasty league.

Just look at the receivers each was throwing to this year. Get Manning.

here is something a friend of mine who knows fantasy football sent to me in an email:

Were I you, I think I'd look elsewhere ... honestly, Rodgers is probably the only viable long-term "stud" that you have. While you have a nice prospect in Crabtree, and a solid TE in Clark (assuming he can continue to stay healthy, something that's been a bit of an issue for him until recently) all of the other top tier players you list from your roster are likely at or near the end of their high-end productivity ... TO, Ward, Mason, TJ ... how many "FF starter caliber" seasons do they have left in them? Benson could be a winner for you for several seasons, or he could slip back - one really strong season (with a very heavy workload) does not a career make.

I realize this is a 16 team league, so talent will be thinner than may otherwise be customary in FF, but I think you have 2 real choices with this team -- either find a way to get yourself a top end WR w/o losing Rodgers (trading away future picks is likely the only chance you have at that) in an effort to win something NOW, while your aging players have a strong season or two left in them -- or blow up the team and start from scratch, in a fire sale that gets you draft picks and/or young prospects & rids you of the Jones, Ward, Mason, Clark types while they still have value. I'm not sure that I see an "in-between" option, and I'm not sure that I'd want to peddle Rodgers (almost regardless of what you get in return) in other than a last resort or "too good to be true" deal that you simply can't turn down. Given that this is a 16 teamer, your current players seem reasonably solid other than at WR, so maybe looking at some "lesser than blockbuster" deals that can get you close right away is the way to go.

I would not get rid of Rodgers for Manning straight up. I stated at the beginning of the season Rodgers was going to be the top QB and in our league he was. He was actually be second pick. Next year he will get even better. He should find Jennings alot more then he did last year. Offer him Rodgersand Benson for Peyton, AP and S. Smith. Smith should be back next year.

if anyone is still watching this thread i have a grand idea

basically there are 2 dynasty leagues that we are members of

in 1, i am going to try to trade my 1-5, 2-5, and beanie wells to him for calvin johnson and his 5-15 and 6-15. lopsided, i know

but in the other one, im gonna try something crazy.
manning, roddy, steve smith, AP, and dashon goldson, and his 4th round pick
FOR
rodgers, thomas jones, derrick mason, hines ward, brian dawkins and my 2nd

i wonder if it will work...
