Shurmer's offense didn't rank well. Maybe he's getting credit for Bradford's development.

And he's leaving the up and coming Rams for the stand still Browns why? Do all these guys really think the grass is greener on the other side as HC.

Its his chance to lead a franchise under a trusted friend. Shurmer is probably going to get 4 years to turn this thing around at least.

I wouldnt call the Browns under Holmgren "at a stand still". They did improve some this year, but having two top 5 AFC teams in your division and the Bengals, who could be a top ten team if and when they feel like playing, makes improvement in the records slow to come.

Stick Cleveland in the NFC West and theyd be 8-8 immediately, if not sooner.

Good point but to be the best you have to beat the best. The Dawg pound has been the pound puppies for yrs and can easily keep that going til they can get some talent or Pitt/Balt/Cincy all go into rebuilding yrs mode at the same time, then they have a chance at the division.

Yeah but thats the most brutal division in football. You could bring the 2010 Chiefs into that division and their record would have been much like the Browns.

Agreed. Dont think NE would have won 14 games either if they were in that division.

hey, they didn't finish last in their division this year ;)

LOL. Thats a plus i guess. Cincy ran circles talent wise around Cleveland. Some reason just couldnt get it done on the field.

LOL, yeah but talent wise you were pretty far ahead of them.

Yep

As a Rams season ticket holder, I can tell you that there were a lot of fans calling for Shurmur's head after some close losses at home and away when the Rams offense decided to play conservative in the 2nd half. Bradford wasn't allowed to stretch the field and most of his passes were for 15 yards or less. I, for one, am glad he is gone and am looking forward to a new OC, which is rumored to be Josh McDaniels. I think Bradford will flourish under an offense that would be more similar to what he had at OK. The spread offense wasn't kind to him at certain times since he didn't have a downfield threat. Donnie Avery, Mark Clayton and Dominique Curry should be back next year. Add them to Danny Amendola, Danario Alexander and maybe Mardy Gilyard or Brandon Gibson and McDaniels offense should work fine. Everybody here in St. Louis thinks the Rams need to take a WR with the 14th pick, but I think we are well equipped there and should go after a RB to backup Steven Jackson or a OG to give Bradford more protection.

At that point Julio Jones and AJ Green will be off the board. Id expect the Rams to trade down or grab a 4-3 DT to really solidify that line.

Was this Shurmer's fault though? It's very possible that going to a more conservative approach late in games could be the doings of the HC, not the OC. I would think the HC would be the one telling the OC whether to stay aggressive or go conservative.
