Help QB ranking

I am trying to understand the rankings. I reviewed the QB stats between Kurt Warner and Joe Flacco, understanding that Warner has had a bye week, Flacco has 1289 yrds vs. Warner 1165yrds, Flacco 9 TD's vs Warner's 6 TD's, Flacco 220 fan points vs. Warner's 181. It seems based on this info that Flacco is ahead. Now I looked at the teams that they are playing in regards to the pass defense and Warner is playing Seattle who is #9 against the pass and Flacco is playing Minnisota who is #18. I would think that Flacco would be the better play this week but looking at the wk 6 cheatsheet Warner is ranked #2 and Flacco is ranked much less, like 12th or something. I really like Warner and he is who I will play this week but was just hoping someone could help me understand the ranking process and maybe I can better choose my players and win some games.

I don't think any independent rankings are totally tied to, if at all, to simply performance thus far.

This rankings are educated prognastications of forth coming events. The Vikes passing defense is likely tied to how hard it is to run on them. There is no doubt in my mind that Warner at Seattle is the better start on paper this week regardless of weeks 1-5.

Joe Flacco got off to a fast start against two bad teams, and another that is either semi bad, or just underachieving (San Diego). He has now followed those games up with mediocre performances (QB rating in the 70's for both of his last games). Also, no real track record of big performances to help him out.

Warner has a proven track record of success when healthy, and started off the season badly.

Throw out week 1, which is often a weird weak, and Warner has the same amount of touchdown passes, in one less game. 2 of 5 games for Flacco have been sub 200 yard efforts. Warner lowest effort was 243 yards, and Warner has much better receiving targets.

Carlson #1 TE. I'm not byin' it. The way Seattles line is they are playing max protection. I don't think he is going to be running that many routes

....but you didn not have to suffer through even 1 minute of gametime fretting your decision if you went with warner! The Vikings pass defense simply buckled in the 4th quarter. Up until that point all Flacco owners were very concerned. He is a great young QB, and has a great future. He now seems to be on that Roethlisberger plain, where you can always trust he will give you his best effort, and salvage your week! That said, you just can't sit Warner with Boldin, Fitz, and Breaston, unless it is very cold and wet, then warner is almost useless!
