Harvin collapses during practice

rotoworld,
Percy Harvin collapsed during Thursday's practice and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Coach Brad Childress said that Harvin had an "episode" and not really a "seizure." It was apparently triggered when Harvin looked at the sky on a punt return and is almost certainly related to his migraine woes. Harvin was trembling and partially responsive as medical personnel got him off the field. This is scary stuff as the Vikings held a team prayer afterward.

I hope it is nothing too serious. Still this latest bit of bad news for Harvin sure makes me wish that I had not have drafted the young man in any of my leagues.

cbssports.com,
Vikings head coach Brad Childress confirmed Thursday that WR Percy Harvin collapsed while watching practice and was taken away on an ambulance. It is believed that this incident is related to Harvin's ongoing migraine problems. Harvin rejoined the Vikings this week after being away from the team for nearly two weeks with a death in his family and migraine problems.

Analysis: Clearly, Harvin's condition is still impacting him, and it's no wonder everyone from the Vikings' brass to his teammates to the fans to his Fantasy owners are concerned. When he's well, Harvin is a terrific, versatile threat with great speed. But when he's not well, he misses time with his teammates at practice and during games. The Vikings have been working with Harvin to find a cure for his ongoing issues, but the team has admitted that it has been a long process with no solution. The best plan of attack regarding Harvin in Fantasy Football is to draft a capable "insurance policy" for him in case he misses games during the season (one such handcuff is fellow Vikings WR Bernard Berrian). Harvin is still worth checking out as a middle- to low-end No. 2 Fantasy wideout. When we learn more about his status we'll fill you in.

One source said that it happened when he was waiting to field a punt and one said he was simply watching practice. Either of course is bad but darn I wish they could get these stories right.

rotoworld,
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that "early reports" on Percy Harvin's migraine episode on the practice field Wednesday are encouraging.

Bernard Berrian tweeted Thursday that "Percy's doin' fine everyone." We can't imagine he'll be fielding practice punts anytime soon -- let alone play in Sunday night's exhibition game at San Francisco -- but it sounds like Harvin avoided a migraine that could ache for several days. "It seemed like he was stable," confirmed coach Brad Childress. The issue is a career-long concern for Harvin, but he's not moving in our rankings.

The num 1 importance right now should be finding out the cause. I hate to see this, all this kid knows is football....I hope they can find a long term solution.

I am a longer-term migraine sufferer.... 15 years and countless Rx and tests. I finally met a chiropractor who cured mine. In the last year I went from getting 1 per week to 3 in the past 11 months.

As long as he doesn't take a saw to his own neck before they figure it out.... there's hope.

I used to suffer from migraines as well for a couple of years. I started going to the chiropractor a couple times a week and after a few months they seemed to go away. I still go about once a week now.

rotoworld,
Percy Harvin (migraines) was back on the sidelines Friday, watching practice and having a laugh with Vikings coaches.

It's good sign that Harvin is out of the hospital and back functioning normally. He appears to have no aftereffects from Thursday's migraine episode. We've yet to see a timetable for his return to practice. He will not make the trip to San Francisco for Sunday night's game.
