rotoworld,

Anthony Gonzalez (knee) and Bob Sanders (biceps) returned to practice for the Colts on Thursday.

Neither player appeared to be held back by their 2009 injuries. It will be interesting to see how their bodies respond to the workout. Sanders has remained tight-lipped about his status while Gonzalez maintains that he's "as close to 100 percent as he’s likely to be." Both players are expected to be full-go for training camp.

I'm really happy for the young man and hope that he get back to where he was before the injury.

He is the 4th best Wr on the team burying him on the depth chart and rendering him as depth only. Throw in Clark and it gets worse. He will have to find a new home to find the field as an intrical part of an offense. It isn't in Indy unless they suffer injuries.

ahhh, that is where you are wrong....Collie will be the one lost in the shuffle if Gonzo is really healthy. Wayne, Garcon (love what I saw) and Gonzo in the slot (natural position). Not sure why everyone is rushing to write him off. Very good WR at finding spaces in the defense.

I actually wonder if all the wrs including Clark take a hit this year. I think they will really spread the ball around...so they will all juggle big games. I am leaning toward downgrading some of the indy receivers due to the depth and how they will be used.

Collie had 60 catches for 676 yards and 7 td's

Anthony had 57 catches for 664 yards and 4 td's

Collie was much better in the clutch in my opinion and better over all.

I own neither.

I don't own either, but I don't think the story here is all numbers.....guess we will see. Gonzalez is the more talented WR and is in a spot where his skills will be highlighted IMO. See no reason he won't jump back in front of Collie.

Th etd #'s jumped off the page to me. I realize he had the one big game. I just feel he made Manning feel pretty comforatble and Gonzo really never accomplished that until 2008, and then he didn't get what Collie got.

We'll see. I feel Collie is tougher and works harder and smarter.

Interesting, Manning is one of the best at spreading it around. An 8TD guy, a 7TD guy and 3 6TD guys including Clark, big games and small games for everybody.

That is my overall fear. Manning IS the best at getting to the open receiver and not locking on one target. He won't force a pass to get it to one particular target. So if all are healthy, I think you will see it vary who will have good games and who won't. Net, they all might drop in overall production from it.

I also think you won't see Wayne in Indy after this contract. They are about to announce a huge long term deal for Manning. Assuming a cap is back after the final negotiations....they wont' be able to afford Wayne..and they will have Garcon, Collie and Gonzales in place already.

Just my opinion though...

I'd be willing to make that same $1 v-bet with you RC. If Gonzo is truely back he'll replace Collie for playing time and lead him in fantasy points.

The numbers I've seen floating around for Manning are way out there. Heck he could afford to clean up the oil spill after he signs that contract.

I gotta a few bucks left. Who wants a piece of this? :p

Not me. I agree with you RC. I'm not even considering the TDs. The problem I have had and continue to have with Gonzo lite is on third down he consistently runs short of the first down marker. It seems like he always is one yard short on his route. You cannot let a drive stall because you didn't take an extra step before you made your cut. Collie didn't do that. He kept drives alive (as did Clark). Keeping a drive alive is what makes Manning comfortable. Gonzo will be out at least for this year. I don't know if they'll cut him loose after this year or if they'll just use him in 4WR sets and see what happens with other contracts. Regardless, Collie and Gonzo are fighting over the 4th receiving option in this offense. I wouldn't be too keen on either one of them. Yes, Manning spreads the ball around and finds the open WR, but how often will none of his first three options be open? If one of the first three options gets hurt, then there's something to consider, but not until then.

to keep you up to date and on debate:

Colts coach Jim Caldwell wouldn't commit to using Anthony Gonzalez at a specific receiver (slot or outside) position Friday. "That's probably one of the great things about this time of year," Caldwell said. "It gives us a chance to look at ... everything. He played both previously, both inside and outside, and that certainly could be the case going forward." Using Gonzalez primarily in the slot would be one way to "ease" him back in coming off a knee injury.
