Football players going pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Lots of football players will be wearing pink to raise awareness and help raise money. Ochocinco already said he will be fine for all the pink he is wearing but he will match the fine and donate to a local breast cancer charity in Cincinnati.

Not for the shoes other players will be wearing shoes. He claims he went overboard on the pink and some wasn't ok by the NFL so thats why he will be fine he thinks he will be anyways.

Some of the pink stuff he is wearing he didn't get the ok from the NFL so he may be fined because it wasn't approved.

He knows that he won't be fined he's just flapping his jaw. Reggie says he'll wear pink gloves?

If he wears a pink chin strap i believe he will which during i think pre season he wore a orange chin strap and did get a fine.

shoes
gloves
wrist bands (is that what the call them?)

Those are things they will be wearing that is pink that I know of anyways.

So when is Prostate cancer month and what color will it be?

I get tired of seeing everything that is Breast Cancer Awareness... It's serious and people should be aware but why is it the only type of cancer that is "trendy" and yes, it is trendy. There are much more serious types of cancer that should be observed and no one seems to care about those until they have them but Breast Cancer Awareness and all that is pink and ribbony is all over the media. Done with my rant.

I do understand what you are saying but to say people don't care isn't very fair. Let me try my best to explain why.

Once you have been effected by a certain cancer or illness you are more likely to want to donate or help the cause.

I think its out of sight out of mind type deal. If I haven't been personally effected by breast cancer who knows if i would have started a thread had 2 aunts who had breast cancer 1 died, my mom lost one of very good friend to breast cancer, just this spring one of my very good friends (so close both are know each other because of our friendship) her mom died this past April from breast cancer.

Im not saying its right but I think thats how it is. Unless a certain cancer effects you i think some just don't think about them not that they don't care just haven't been touched by them.

Hope that makes sense.

Also one more last thing.

Bringing knowledge of screening and prevention to any cancer is a good thing.

I'm not at all saying BCA is a bad thing. What I'm saying is every company, whether it be the NFL or Cheerios is marketing it. Last time I checked, other cancers need awareness brought into the forefront as there are probably 85% more cancers more deadly than BC. It just seems to be a trend for companies to take advantage of rather than the right thing to do, not that that's the case for the NFL... although I bet there were a lot of pink jerseys sold this week...

As one who lived through breast cancer treatments (many of you know that my wife is a survivor -- 2002), I appreciate all of the help that these organizations can get. Baseball players use pink bats and wear pink gloves and sweatbands on mother's day and some of the gate receipts are donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for cancer. For more information, here is a website: Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers for women (and men) suffering with this disease.

Prostate cancer runs in my family as well -- my father and brother have both beaten it. Baseball does a lot to help this cause around father's day.
