Cincy looked bad last night. Don't put a lot of stock in it, but yeah, just not many goods to take from it.
As Phic stated, the b/u QB situation is just plain UGLY! Palmer continues to bewilder me. Talent is there.....but his play continues to just not look sharp. It's early, but even last year, outside of clutch situations he was not very good.
Offense looked exactly the same as last year which pisses me off, but is what I expected......I hate Bratkowski! They need to be more creative to put Palmer and co in better situations.
One plus was TO, they worked him in nicely early. He is going to bring another threat that can open this offense up if they can get Brat to do it.
Scott is fun to watch run. He did not do much, but kid has that wiggle that makes you think he can do something each time he gets to the outside.
Coffman had a nice grab. Want to see how he continues to develop, if he can be who some thought he would be last year he opens up some flexibility in offensive sets and can make this team less predictable by running two tight with him and Greshem.
The projects: Matt Jones has not had a good camp and has an uphill climb to make this team. He helped himself out last night. He was the only WR in that roster scrum to do anything. Simpson ran a nice route and go seperation on a deep route in the 2nd Q but JTO simply sucks and missed him badly. Adam Jones looked decent in coverage and should be a nice weapon as a nickel corner for this team. If he continues to keep his head on straight this could be the best corner trio in the league with Joseph, Hall, Jones.
Return game: Bengals look to have some real weapons in the return game. Adam Jones as a KR is a dangerous weapon. Shipley has some promise at PRer.
Not a great start to the year, but hey, they still have 4 preseason games to work it out.
