rotoworld,

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels indicated that he plans to use a receiver-by-committee approach to replace Brandon Marshall.

Receiver committees aren't recipes for fantasy value. "I hope we have a lot of guys that become our No. 1 receiver at different times," McDaniels said. "We're not looking for it to be predictable or throw it to only one or two players." Eddie Royal, Jabar Gaffney, and Brandon Stokley could end up rotating snaps with rookies Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker. It's worth noting that Royal is seeing lots of action in the slot at OTAs.

rotoworld,
Jabar Gaffney and Eddie Royal are the Broncos' starting receivers, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette's Frank Schwab.

Rookie Demaryius Thomas is the "overwhelming favorite" to be third receiver, but that's not written in stone with his slow recovery from foot surgery. It was Gaffney, not Royal, who blew up for 21 catches for 282 yards in the final two games last season. The Broncos receivers will lack consistency, but Gaffney is shaping up as a nice late-round flier in redraft leagues.

Eddie Money in the slot would be great value mid season. But anyone looking to Jabar Gaffney for consistent output will be sorely disappointed.

I'm sorry, but if Thomas can't beat out Gaffney for a starting spot, then why the fock did Denver spend a first rounder on him? I have to believe this is coach speak. Otherwise, they suck at evaluating talent..........

Brandon Lloyd is the sleeper here. Great talent when he is healthy and gets the opportunity.

The same Brandon Lloyd who has 60 catches total in the last 4 years and an all time high of 48? No thanks...........

They just drafted Thomas when the could have had Dez. Dez is the projected starter in Dallas. If Thomas can't beat out the likes of Gaffney, Stokley and Royal, then WTF was Denver thinking? They should have drafted Bryant...........

Remember....Thomas is still RAW. I'm not saying he won't win a starting job, as you have pointed out he's not going against much, but at the same time this isn't the triple option. This isn't single coverage where it's an absolute shock when they actually throw the ball. Thomas has a lot to work on and a lot to prove before I would toss him into the starting line-up.

I agree he is raw, but if you pass on Bryant for him, he better have the raw talent to start over the likes of Gaffney, Stokley and Royal.

Just saying...............

rotoworld,
Broncos first-round WR Demaryius Thomas is impressing coaches with his steady improvement, according to the Denver Post.

Thomas has participated in just five offseason practices since recovering from his foot fracture. But he's been getting reps alongside starters Eddie Royal and Jabar Gaffney and was targeted on the first play of a full team goal-line drill on Saturday. Now 100 percent, the talented Thomas will push Royal and Gaffney throughout training camp.

rotoworld,
Coach Josh McDaniels said that Eddie Royal has a strong hold both returner jobs once again this season.

Royal averaged a very solid 11.2 yards per punt return and a mediocre 23.9 yards per kick return last year. He won't face much competition for either gig from fourth-round CB Perrish Cox. The plan to keep Royal on special teams full time is another sign that the Broncos will employ a receiver-by-committee approach.

Good news for those owners in leagues that allow Points for kick return yardage, Royal was the #7 WR in one of my IDP leagues that allowed it. But the return work could hamper Royals impact as strictly a WR.

(Rotoworld) Beat writer Mike Klis says that expectations for Broncos rookie receivers Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker should be tempered because of their foot injuries. Analysis: Both receivers are back to 100 percent now and working out, but missing the majority of the spring hurts. Thomas should have a major impact based on talent alone, but will need to polish up his route-running to win a starting job. How he's mixed in with Eddie Royal and Jabar Gaffney is a story to watch at training camp.

Cecil Lammey, NFL Insider for FRSN and senior writer for Footballguys.com, reports Broncos beat writer Mike Klis told him this morning on 87.7 The Ticket that the blueprint for the Broncos was to get Eddie Royal the most receptions in 2010. Royal will be working as the team's slot receiver this year, and will be their version of Wes Welker.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Royal was a major disappointment last year after finishing the season as the 100th best fantasy wide receiver. This season the Broncos are going to work Royal as the slot receiver, and he could be in for a bounce back season. Royal presents plenty of value this year later in fantasy drafts, and we'll be watching his progress closely in training camp.

If Royal is in the fact the slot receiver then he will get a lot more receptions. With Orton's sissy arm strength, all he'll be throwing are short passes.

The Denver Post reports Broncos first-round draft pick WR Demaryius Thomas has joined fellow rookie WR Eric Decker in the training room. Thomas came up limping after an awkward landing on a touchdown catch during Saturday’s practice at Invesco Field. Head athletic trainer Steve Antonopulos examined Thomas’ left ankle. Thomas was able to walk on his own to the locker room. As for Decker, he left Saturday evening practice with an injury to his left foot or ankle.
