Eagles trade McNabb to Redskins

Bump up Cooley, Moss, and Thomas in your rankings. Possibly Fred Davis if they run 2 TE sets. He could be a guy that gets around 5 TD's on 30 catches.

Biggest Kevin Kolb fan in the entire world right now is none other than Case Keenum down at the University of Houston.

If Kolb breaks out with a superb season, Keenum's 2011 draft stock goes through the roof and nobody will care that he's a "system QB". (Kolb's a former Cougar)

On a humorous note, Kolb shares a hometown (Victoria, TX) with former WWE icon Stone Cold Steve Austin..

So....does McNabb become the next Doug Williams for the Redskins? Or just as appropriate, the next Sonny Jorgenson?

Nope ;)

So just skimming through this thread I see most are forgetting the obvious....

...what are the fantasy implications?

Based on what Cutler did under Shanny do we see an uptick in McNabb's value?

I definately see bigger numbers for Cooley and the wideouts. This may also help Portis.

In Philly I still see Celek being a legit TE but will it lower the value of Desean Jackson?

Can Kolb be consistant?

It will be fun to see how all the implications shake out.

The Redskins are guaranteed four losses, two against the Cowboys, two against the Eagles.

Could split with the G-Men but i doubt it, that would be 1-5 or 0-6 in the division alone and will be on the outside looking in again

The only hope McNabb has in saving his fantasy value is Shanny, his stock is down a few ticks right now

McNabb is better than Cutler but the rest of the Redskin offense is not as good yet as Denvers. That could change if there are additional moves - rumors of Marshall following Shanny are already getting some press. The triumvirate of RB's is reminiscent of Denver and I would not be surprised if the new coach makes it work beautifully although doesn't that mean someone gets hurt as well?

It would have been nice seeing McNabb having an opportunity to play with all the pieces but I can not fault them for moving on. Kolb should do well enough although unlike some I could see Washington splitting with Philly this year.

For D.

Donovan McNabb scoffed at reports that he would have refused to join the Raiders had he been traded to Oakland this offseason.

jokeland would have challenged for the division title in what would have been McNabbs only season at the helm. just a feeling.....

Feel bad Mcnabb here. He goes from a contender to a pretender and so late in his career. Ever how many years he has left in the NFL, it will be cut in half at least after one season he will take from the def beatings , sacks and tackles. He'll look like Farve coming off the field by the end of the season, if he can make it that far. And bottom line is, the 'skins will still suck this year. Year after year they have a top 5 team on paper and you really think they are gonna make some noise then the season starts and its over for them half way thru the season. IMO Mcnabb would have had a better season in Oakland. They have the same offensive setup as Philly and he's used to that.

The way Philly talks, they aren't in contender mode... I wouldn't write Washington off quite so fast either.

Huh? At no point have I heard Philly giving up this year. Nor any of the fan base.

There are many of us Eagles fans that understand exactly what this franchise is doing. They refuse to pay for talent that is aging or past its prime. McNabb has been a wonderful qb, but they had NO intention on re-signing him. Kolb is and has always been what Andy felt was the future for the team. Westbrook is the same...but his drop was due to injury instead of age.

Please note in most cases when a big name player has left Philly, his replacement was already in house, or the clear target in that draft. They drafted Kolb years ago for this, as well as McCoy last year for Westbrook. This franchise just keeps reloading and moving on. It is what it does.

Anyone who feels Philly can't contend with Kolb, Maclin, Jackson, Avant, Celek and McCoy and Weaver in its starting offense doesn't follow football.

Add to that the incredible amount of extra picks THIS year that they will use to retool the O and D line...and draft S and Cb. Plus you can fully expect at least one of not two trades IN this draft for extra picks next year.

The moves they make may not seem popular...but they work, and the team keeps winning.

Now on the Redskins.

Yes, they seem to be toward the old side. But the defense was damn solid last year. They have young talent at WR along with Moss. Great TE depth. Rb may or may not pan out. But if they don't address the O-line...and do it agressively...they will kill McNabb early.

I honestly don't understand why they have not talked to or signed Gaither from Baltimore to help.

Not a Redskin fan but I think they will be seriously overlooked this year and surprise some people.

7-9 is their ceiling, even with McNabb.

The only thing worse than having an aging injury-prone running back, is having 3 of 'em.

Aside from the fact that Donovan's not exactly Ripken-like in his durability, he's now firmly planted behind a subpar o-line.

rotoworld,
ESPN's John Clayton predicts that Donovan McNabb "could" get a contract extension within the next two weeks.

The Washington Post has also indicated that an agreement is likely before the end of the month. Without a long-term replacement behind him on the roster, the Skins won't want McNabb to begin the season in a contract year.

(cbssports.com)After spending the first 11 years of his career in one offense, Redskins QB Donovan McNabb has said the last month and a half studying the offense of coach Mike Shanahan and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan have felt like rookie year all over. McNabb, who admitted he's had more workouts this offseason than any offseason before, is among several Redskins who want to nail down Shanahan's system before training camp. McNabb said his experience in Philadelphia's offense has only helped somewhat in his study of the Redskins' offense. He says coach Mike Shanahan's version of the West Coast offense is very different. "Maybe they came from the same tree, but this ain't no West Coast offense," McNabb said with a laugh.

Good luck with that. As shown last year he still didn't have the rules of the game down after 11 seasons in the NFL. How will he learn a new playbook in one season.
