Well, as Da Bomb would say, "Jason Witten should have a tier of his own"..............

Other than that, I would put Clark in the top 3 because of his situation and drop Winslow down to around 9-10 because of his situation. Rest is hard to argue with. Big fan of Carlson moving forward, but for now, I think he's about right.

I agree Witten should hold the #1 spot and Clark moving to #3 but I would not move Winslow down that far.

Carlson would probably move ahead of Olsen and maybe Winslow.

I would take Gonzo before Keller and probably Cooley at least yet

Pettigrew should be bumped up in a dynasty setting - gotta grab him before he proves himself to everyone else in the league.

Relooking, you're probably right. 7-8 is probably more like it. Obviously he is a top talent, but new team and a quarterback issue take him out of the top 5 for now.........

I could easily live with that but it would not surprise me if he climbed a little higher through the preseason.

I am a Carlson fan...but I think his value tanks now that Seattle has actual working receivers. I think your top tier is:
Witten
Gates
Clark
Gonzales

then you drop from there.

I think having Housh will help Carlson. Now that Seattle does have working WR's should allow Carlson to be open in the middle of the field. I think Carlson will also have quite a few touchdowns because now defenses have to pay attention to Seattles other WR's.

I don't know. Just not sold. In its hey day...when they had solid Wrs, Seattle didn't throw a whole lot to the Te. Not saying that can't change...just not sure. Assuming Branch is healthy, add T.J. and then you have Burleson for the slot...you have a solid Wr core. Yes, Carlson could be a redzone target...so could T.J. duckett too though. Plus if Hass gets hurt...the whole off. sucks.

Yeah I see your point. I just don't see Branch staying healthy, or Burleson being the same after his season ending knee injury last year. I look for atleast one or maybe even both of these WR's going down again this year and for Carlson to have another good season in there absence. If they don't get injured I dont think Carlson will have as many yards but i think he will have just as many touchdowns as he did last year.

Seattle used their TE's enough to make Mili, who kept Stevens on the bench for a few seasons, a fantasy player worth drafting. Neither Mili or JS are the TE Carlson should turn into.

Even healthy the WRs are just that "solid". It is not awe inspiring - Witten had better and still got his looks in Big D. Hass will use the weapons available to him and that should include sufficient opportunity for this youngster.

If Hass gets hurt Carlson will take on even greater importance as Wallace's check down target. The entire team collapsed and it was not just Seneca's fault. The 2 styles of these QBs are so different that I am surprised they have been teamed up for so long. The shift from one to the other takes time for the rest of the team to adjust to - adding that to everything else it was almost as bad as Kitna going down for the Michigan translation of collapse.

my dynasty rankings...

Witten
===
Gates
Olsen - Seems high for me
Winslow - Seems high but could see it happening if healthy and transitions smoothly
===
Cooley - Would bump down but not much
Gonzalez - I like his prospects for this year but as for dynasty value I would definitely be looking to grab someone like Pettigrew
===
Keller
Z Miller
Daniels
===
Dal Clark - Why so low? Age or the transitions in Indy?
Shockey
H Miller
Pettigrew - Where is the love?

thats about a top 14 for me.

Dallas (and Petti) so low is what really stood out for me.

fixed it, sorry. wow, other than clark and carlson, my rankings are unbelievably similar to the originals posted.

gonzalez is already bumped down a notch. he is a consensus #2 TE this year. you realize hes only 4 years older than someone like gates, right? its not like hes 38. hes 33.

cooley is perenially underrated. hes a solid 700-750 and 7 TDs waiting to happen year in and year out.

i didnt expect winslow to end up so high in my rankings actually. im terrified of him after getting burned in just about every league last year. but the guy is only 25 right now. you realize thats the same age as john carlson, right? and only a year difference from several of the other "young guys" on there. i'll take the injury risk with the youth and upside and already two 800+ yard seasons.

olsen is only just barely 24 years old which means hes still just entering his prime in the next year or two, and he put up 575/5 last year with no qb. make that 750/7 this year to equal someone like cooley, and in a dynasty ranking, i just dont know who id take over him as the 3rd TE.

carlson is already 25 because he played all four years in college, so hes not exactly super young and exciting just because he had a good rookie year. hes a solid player who was in the right place at the right time last year. i had him at #15 on my list, but he would start a next tier for me so i just dumped him from the list. i dont think he'll match last year's numbers this year or maybe ever. that was his ceiling. nothing excites me about him.

for pettigrew, i cant see putting him any higher than that. love the possible future of him and stafford, but the guy has never played a down of nfl football. i cant see putting him ahead of all of those other guys who have produced as good fantasy starters. though admittedly if i was drafting id rather have him than any of the other guys in his tier who i dont like at all.

dallas clark gets NO love from me. do we all realize the guy is going to turn 30 in under a month? not that that means death, but it does mean that hes the 2nd oldest guy on that list other than tony g. people talk about him like hes still just coming into his own. at 30 as a TE, the truth is that youve already likely peaked. peyton isnt going to be around forever, and dallas is a guy who has already had a multitude of injuries piling up that will only get worse as a TE ages. he wouldve been a bust last year if not for the bonus 200 yards or so thanks to all the WR injuries. the 11 TDs was a fluke, and now so were the 850 yards. this is a 650/6 sort of guy. that probably puts him ahead of the tier on the list right above him, for maybe a year or two and maybe by 1-2 ppg, but not enough to merit drafting. for me, dallas is not on the precipice of the stud TEs, hes a lot closer to to just being off my radar completely.

as for dallas clark, he set career highs by 150 yards and SIX tds last season. he had been averaging 400 and 4 each of the three years before last year's fluke tds added up.

dallas clark was a fluke, just like brandon stokley a few years back. if theres anyone you need to see do it again, its clark. you need to see him stay healthy all year again, and to see manning lose his top WR all season, top RB for several games, and also the 3rd WR and 2nd TE sometimes. then maybe clark is good again.

Hmmm. Your post in this thread sounds exactly like this post from last year's preseason. Get over it. Clark is a good player, not a fluke. Would I drop him in a dynasty format a tiny bit? Yeah. Do you seemingly have some sort of bug up your ass for some unknown reason for Dallas Clark? Yeah.
