So I have the 8th pick in a 10 man, .5 ppr league.. For some big bux and bragging rights.
I'm pretty sure I know what will be available for me in this spot so I'd like to get some insight as to which direction you would go if you were in my shoes...

The WR/WR way - Grab top WR available and follow him up with another top WR like Julio or Calvin. So my start might look something like Dez and Julio.

The RB/WR way - Grab CJ Anderson (kinda risky IMO) and follow up with a top WR like Julio, Demaryius, etc. So my start might look something like CJ Anderson and Julio.

The WR/RB way - Grab top WR available and follow up with top RB available. So my team might look something like Dez and Jeremy Hill ( I'm high on him).

I appreciate any input!

Later in the round I love the Wr/Wr path. There aren't that many dominant Wrs and the Rb depth is a little better with specialization. However, I am in one league(IBL) where Wrs drop like flies in the first round, so you may have to go Rb/Wr to get real value.

Most of the time I go with best player available. Last season in a non ppr league I took lacy early first rd and morris late second and when early third came around LeVeon Bell was there but I already had 2 Rb's so I took him anyway and boy was it worth it. Got me in the money but I should have taken a WR with my second pick. Some drafts like Phi said are different. Depends on the people you play with. Some drafts might have 3 QB's gone in 1st rd or 7 Rb's or 3 Rb's so it's always hard to say but i don't think you can ever go wrong with rb/wr. I never draft a TE or QB before the 6th usually. I think if you get a stud RB in the first at 8 available i would grab him becasue you should still be able to get a stud WR in the second.

Only .5 Ppr I would try and grab bell or Ap with your first pick.
If Bell or AP fell to 8 I would gladly snag one of them but I don't see that happening. Pretty sure the first 7 picks will be AP, Bell, Charles, Lacy, Lynch, Anonio Brown and some other random first round guy. So you kinda see what I'll be left with.

If any of those drop to 8 though then you have your answer
Yeah if any of the top 5 RBs makes it to me I'd pounce and I suppose there's a decent chance one could. But if not, right now I'm leaning towards avoiding CJ Anderson and grabbing the top WR at 8.

I like this option best. Dez and J Hill sounds like a nice start.

Would you ever consider Luck or Rodgers in the 2nd round?

With Ingram's role in the passing game being expanded and Khiry being a heck of a pass catching RB as well and add in CJ's injury history I think almost everyone is over paying for him. Now if Ingram goes down Khiry is going to step in as the lead back, there's no question about that in my mind but CJ will be in a time share at the RB position for New Orleans and make him an extremely valuable player in ppr leagues.

If those are the first 6-7 picks I would take dez/Julio and then Murray if he falls to your 2nd.

As a couple others pointed out I'm not high on cja either.

Seems like I'm always drafting in the 7/8 range this year. That's where I've fallen in three drafts. I ended up with Brown/Hill, Lacy/Beckham, Thomas/Jones. Happy with all three drafts first two rounds. I would say don't tie yourself down to one strategy. Instead see how draft plays out and draft value. Intended to go round 1 wr/round 2 rb in all three drafts. Was able to snag Lacy once. In my last draft Julio made the most sense when my turn came back around given the ppr scoring system even though I had taken Thomas in Rd 1.

Did our draft in Vegas on Saturday and it was a blast. Ended up with Demaryius and Dez as my first two picks. Jeremy Hill was taken right before my second pick otherwise it would have been Demaryius and Hill.
