rotoworld,
Donald Driver recently underwent arthroscopic surgery on both of his knees.

We don't want to go overboard, but it's realistic to believe that this could be the beginning of the end for the 35-year-old. Driver's performance dropped off sharply down the stretch of last season, and he's no sure bet to be ready for Opening Day. We strongly recommend to avoid Driver in 2010 fantasy leagues. James Jones becomes a very good bet to start games at flanker this year, while Greg Jennings' stock also gets a significant bump.

I became a fan of James Jones last season. This could get him on the field much more often.
:nono:

Look for Jordy Nelson to take over. Jones has had his shot as #3, and keeps getting hurt. I have had Nelson in my dynasty leagues for years waiting for the demise of Driver. Then again...i picked up Driver as a cheap FA this year to. ;)

rotoworld,
Donald Driver revealed that both of his knee scopes occurred in January, after the Packers' season-ending loss to Arizona.

Driver said he was playing in pain, with limited flexibility late last season -- which helps explain his second-half dropoff. The scopes were done to fix a "trapped nerve" and help with flexibility. Driver has already been cleared by trainers to begin practicing, but the coaching staff told the veteran to "take a break" during OTAs. He'll be fine for training camp, though still a risky fantasy pick.

rotoworld,
Donald Driver (knee surgeries) is not participating in practice at Packers minicamp.

While Driver got his dual knee scopes out of the way in January, he's not healthy enough to practice a whopping five months later. We're staying away from him in fantasy drafts. Driver turned 35 earlier this offseason.

rotoworld,
Packers coach Mike McCarthy described backup receivers James Jones and Jordy Nelson's offseasons as "outstanding."

"Jones may be most productive on the team," McCarthy added. Jones is the likely successor to 35-year-old Donald Driver, who is coming off dual knee surgeries. Nelson would then slot in as Green Bay's third receiver.

(Rotoworld) Jordy Nelson has enjoyed a "phenomenal" offseason, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. Analysis: Beat writer Greg Bedard called Nelson "the new [Donald] Driver" for his impressive practice work earlier in the week. We had been assuming that James Jones would be the primary beneficiary if Driver's play fell off this season, but this is becoming a battle to track in training camp.

told you all! :woohoo1:

rotoworld,
James Jones saw extensive action in the slot "with Donald (Driver's) absence" during offseason workouts, coach Mike McCarthy revealed.

"He's gotten a lot of opportunities," McCarthy said of Jones, "...and I think he's done a very good job." Driver, of course, was out with dual knee surgeries. A flanker in two-receiver sets and a slot man in the three-wide, Jones was practicing at Driver's position. He's consistently beaten out Jordy Nelson over the past two years and will be the favorite to start if Driver has a setback. Jul. 6 - 9:47 am et

Here's the cbssports.com spin,

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports Packers WR James Jones has his sights on a big year in 2010. Jones wants a 1,000-yard season and a share of touchdowns. "I have set my goals. I definitely want to have a 1,000-yard season. That comes with opportunity, so we'll see," Jones said. "I always tell myself to shoot for 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdowns. We'll see if the opportunities present themselves. I can't run without the ball." Jones was the fifth option with 32 catches last year, though he got five touchdowns and 440 total yards out of them for a 13.8-yard average. He again finds himself in a crowded receiving corps with Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, Jermichael Finley and Jordy Nelson, but Jones is ready for a bigger role. "We've got so many weapons on this offense I can't really complain if I don't always get the ball," Jones said. "You know what I mean? I have to get the ball in this offense whenever the opportunity presents itself."

Analysis: We see Jones again being the No. 3 WR behind Jennings and Driver, but the key for Jones could be Driver's health. Part of the reason Jones is having a good offseason is Driver has missed time following knee surgery. We see Jones putting up similar stats to what he did last year, and he's worth a late-round pick on Draft Day. If Driver struggles or suffers a setback in his recovery then Jones' value could rise.

I can’t run without the ball.” The tone in Jones’ voice wasn’t whiny or sarcastic. It was the voice of a realist, and he spoke matter-of-factly.

:headscratch:

Didn't you tell us something about Lendale White in Seattle involving your eye tooth too?
Nope never been on the white waggon. Ever. However...i have said [LOUD YELL]Ringer in Tenn[/LOUD YELL] ;)

Now, I did think White would get a shot...not my fault he likes to get high and didn't want to practice dunno:

rotoworld,
ESPN's John Clayton believes that Jordy Nelson will beat out James Jones for the Packers' No. 3 receiver gig.

We're not buying this, but it's worth noting that Jones has work to do in camp to justify his fantasy hype. Still, Jones has outperformed Nelson consistently over the last two years, and there's no reason to think he won't do it again. Clayton's prediction is likely a product of Nelson's strong offseason -- "The Professor" apparently wasn't informed Jones had a great spring as well. Jones remains Donald Driver's backup and a better prospect.

:wft: He has? Not by what I have seen. When they drafted Jordy they raved about him. Jones has done nothing but get consistantly dinged up. I am telling you now....keep a hold of nelson...not Jones.
