Donald Driver, a Packer for life

Driver has been stating that he wasn't going anywhere and that he wasn't done playing in the NFL either. Now it appears to be true. Lance Allan of NBC Milwaukee reports that the Packers have agreed on a revised contract with Donald Driver. There's still some I's to dot but the deal appears to keep Driver in Green Bay for the rest of his playing days. While we all know that his best days are well behind him IMO he's still worth a roster spot though it could slow down any progress by Cobb.

Amen Mike. Too bad that it seldom happens anymore but the players and their union have played a big part in the way things end up now.

True. People play fantasy sports but it is the players that are in a true fantasy world

Touching, but..

While its nice he can stay there and likely mentor the young, the fourth/fifth receiver on the team generally has to play special teams, yes? I can't see Driver doing it so you're going to risk a younger fresher guy like Cobb or Jones?

Bill Bates made a big impact for
Dallas as a veteran leader and special teams player.

Plenty if room in
Green Bay for Driver

I loved Bates but that is a lifetime ago, and the NFL has changed way too much since then. GMs and the players themselves weren't all about the money and now they very much are. Donald's in the way of a more useful player in today's NFL.

I think Driver proved late last season that he still has some game left in his legs and if Cobb is all of that he should be able to pass up the washed up old man. If he can't, well, to bad for him and his owners in dynasty leagues. As for Jones, I'm fed up with waiting and hoping for him to develop into a reliable fantasy receiver. There's an old saying that goes something like this, "crap or get off the pot."

I imagine that by the time the roster gets cut down to 53, there will be a few people on that team that are of less value to Green Bay than Driver.
