Dolphins vs Saints/Jets Discussion

easy like a 21 pt lead?

The second half was a complete coaching failure, although Ginn didn't help and the refs made several horrible calls against both teams (although the Saints got screwed far less).

1) Pasqualoni stopped calling the zone blitz plays that worked so well in the first half, presumably to "protect the lead". This allowed Brees to pick apart the defense and find his outlet (Shockey).

2) The Wildcat plays called were too cute. Rather than go with the heavy set that worked so well against the Jets, they felt the need to split out Henne and Ginn, which only makes sense if you intend call the flea flicker a couple of times.

3) In general the coaching staff got too comfortable with the lead and I suspect the players did as well, at least until they started panicking which resulted in several bad plays.

Out of the Lions Id expect that. Not out of a team that won its division last year and made the playoffs.

Yeah, it was pretty bad. I mean, I EXPECTED the Saints to come back and put up those kinds of points anyway, their offense is just too good not to. What I DIDN'T expect was for the Fins to stink it up so bad in the second half.

I made a comment to my friends last night that it was a shame I wasn't at the stadium with a sniper rifle, because I gladly would've put a bullet in every ref that made a bad call last night. As it is, I think they should all be fired with cause for that fiasco. Never in my life have I seen a game that was called worse.

EDIT: Come to that, I can't figure out why Wilson allowed Shockey to play Paddy Cake with his head on that one play. In his position, I would've grabbed his arm, twisted it to lock his shoulder, and made a nice hip throw in the opposite direction of his momentum. Probably would've dislocated his shoulder and broken his arm in several places, and yeah, doing that would've gotten me thrown out of the game and probably suspended for a while, but it sends a message to the Saints that you don't pull that bullshit and get away with it.

They play Furman on 11/07. The rest of the schedule seems to hold pretty good defenses.

See any Tigers youd want on the Fins?

;) best since Caddy and Brown?

That was only what 3-4 years ago right? There must have been some damn good backs in that time span to get that recognition.

Considering that Brown and Caddy are probably the two of the best backs to come out of Auburn, that's not exactly small praise.
