Dolphins eyeing Mallett??

Miami Herald columnist Armando Salguero believes the Dolphins draft will hinge on whether or not they decide Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett is worth the risk. Mallett just finished up a two-day visit with the team. The Dolphins are eager to upgrade at quarterback, but would probably like to do so in the first round round after swinging and missing on a number of second-round prospects in recent seasons. If they can convince themselves Mallett is not a character risk, he could be their best bet at No. 15.

I was just reading that both RBs Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown don't expect to be re-signed by the Dolphins. The Dolphins have been touting Lex Hillard as the back of the future during this off season but Lex has barely been on the field before this. So many speculate that the Dolphins will go RB with their first pick.

well, they don't have a 2nd and would love to trade down and get an extra pick . . . with all the negative talk of rb ingram, could be another team trying to instigate a team moving up.

There could be a lot of smoke being blown around this year and the Phins could be playing several angles as well. While they are saying they won't they won't re-sign Ricky and Ronnie if the right deal comes along they could re-sign one or both cheaply at any time as it stands right now.

Ronnie maybe. But I think Ricky burned way too many bridges on his comments on the Franchise and HC when all that was going on.

Agreed. Rickys gone. Now he can go back to doing his yoga and dancing with mary jane. I think Brown might stay another year, depending on the draft.

Im not so sold on Ronnie being back. He wants to start and I dont think he would exactly play second or third fiddle in the backfield happily. Ricky is almost done, can be had cheap, and isnt going to care what instrument hes playing so long as there is a steady paycheck involved.

Now for Mallet.......... Does anyone else thing its a bad idea to put a guy like that around all that strange roaming the beaches of Miami??

:headscratch: Why? None of his off field suppossed issues has to do with ladies.

I said it in the Cam Newton thread, will say it here. Mallett = Rodgers. Mallett will get chosen in 2nd round. He will develop with a chip on his shoulder, and he will do extremely well once given a shot.

Rodgers is mobile. From all reports, the BEST Mallet can hope to be is a Drew Bledsoe or Jim Everett. Probably the latter, since Jim was a dick, too.

True. Actually, I would love to see Indy take him as a solid back up to Manning. With their O-line and having practice at blocking for immoble Qbs, that woudl be solid.

Actually a grand idea. Peyton is getting up there in years. I'm sure the Colts will want to draft a QB to groom, but the class isn't strong enough to hit the jackpot in later rounds.
