DWill didn't really do crap in the 1st portion of last season. JStew had ample opportunities to steal the #1 spot there.

In the 1st 4 games, DWill only rushed for 198 yards and never scored a TD.
he sure did and was getting a decent amoutn of carries in those games...then DWill happened! He just blew up, and took the reigns. However, if you look at his carries overall, he still got looks, hell he had 184 carries (MJD only had 197!). Carolina just ran a SHIT LOAD! DWill just made more of his opportunities. Overall, DWill only received over 20 csarries 3 times all year, and 2 of the 3 were the last 2 games.

I find this opinion very interesting. This is very similar to the argument we had last year after Stew was drafted. Everyone was sure he was taking over...and DeWill blew his chance. Myself and a few others were touting DeWill, as the HC is loyal to his players...just as he was with Foster and before him. J.Stew will be a decent play...but similar to LenDale...not more. DeWill will be the main back...and that won't change this year. Especially with J.Stew hurt AGAIN.

  • -- Jonathan Stewart’s Achilles Problem due to Overcompensating for Toe Injury --
    Fri Jun 19, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com
  • Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (sore left Achilles), who ran for a Panthers rookie record 836 yards and 10 touchdowns last year, said he expects to back on the field in time for training camp according to PSX. Stewart said earlier in the week he sat out all of OTAs because of a sore left Achilles. HC John Fox had previously told the media it was an "ankle." Stewart said doctors told him the injury was related to him overcompensating for a toe problem that slowed him down last offseason. "It just kind of flared up," he said. "I'm pretty much staying off of it to just kind of let it heal." Stewart appeared not to have lost any speed as he ran sprints on the final day of OTAs with his teammates. However, he didn't take part in any plays. The Panthers report to training camp Aug. 2. "Oh yeah, I'm going to be up and running when camp starts," Stewart said. "Unfortunately I missed out on minicamp. But I'll be ready." It marks the second straight year Stewart has missed OTAs. Last year Stewart wasn't allowed by the NFL and the NCAA to participate in OTAs because the University of Oregon is on the quarter system, which means its academic school year wasn't complete. However, Stewart wouldn't have been ready to practice anyway because he was still recovering from toe surgery at the time. The fact that he's missed the OTA sessions the last two years was not lost on his teammates. "You're going to take teasing," said Stewart, flashing a bashful smile. "They're out there busting their butt with me just sitting on the sideline for the second year in a row. I'm really taking the heat for that."
