Watson's defense attorney has fired their first shot. They have filed a motion to force ONE of the ladies filing suit to identify herself. Per Texas law(per the suit filed by his lawyer) it is illegal not to identify the party. I am assuming also that there will be filings like this for all the cases that have been filed under "jane Doe"

And a Texas Judge has ruled that this plaintiff must refile case with her legal name per Texas civil law. Now we will see if the # of cases reduce, due to those plaintiffs wanting to maintain some privacy or not.

Latest updates:
22 lawsuits were filed - all 22 were told by courts you must refile with correct names, 21 have, and one has withdrawn their suit "for now."
One more suit has been filed.
Defense has finally filed paperwork on all cases, stating they are all false. Supposedly calling out texts and other information from those filing suit that discounts what they have charged.

Just read some things on PFT per this.
It has been extremely quiet, and most assumed that there will be a settlement of the civil cases by Watson, but Buzbee the lawyer for the plaintiffs has stated no way in a radio interview - this may be just grand standing as talks have gotten slow or something.

But now Buzbee is getting peckish with the NFL investigator - per Buzbee 4 women have talked to NFL investigator Lisa Friel and HE said the women have felt disprespected by NFL and he insisted on being in on the last interview. HE also said 4 more may want to talk to NFL, but he is not sure he will let them.

Just my $0.02, but this smells like the NFL may not agree with the complaints and Buzbee is trying to push things.

The longer this goes with little or no news, the better for Watson.

So in a recent radio interview, Tony Buzbee has said there will be no settlement. However, the lawyer for Watson Rusty Hardin says Buzbee continues to reach out for a settlement. He further stated in his statement he released that they have never reached out to Buzbee for a settlement, but that he has reached out to them multiple times.

Hardin also stated the only way a settlement can be reached is if the terms are made public and all parties are free to discuss the settlement and talk about their own defense. Buzbee had refused that.

Just reading tea leaves, it is looking a bit better for Watson. Settlement details NEED to be public though specific names can be redacted

Latest news:
Per Watson’s lawyer Hardin 10 criminal complaints have been filed with Houston police. 2 of those are not of the 22 civil suits.
Per Hardin the 22 civil suits will not start depositions until September. Watson won’t be deposed until February. Thus why Houston back on the hook for a decision since Watson could play this year.

Team supposedly wanting 3 high picks and potentially players

If true Miami and Philadelphia are in best position to trade

Okay color me intrigued here.

Per multiple reports - Houston has been getting trade talk from Miami and Carolina and Denver for Watson. Per those reports Miami continues to be the leader in those talks.

One report has Houston wanting 3 first round picks and multiple 2nd round picks as well. That would be HUGE for this team in full rebuild mode.

I will add Houston is really playing chicken with these teams, I don't think there is anyway they get that big a land fall, but how soon before one of these teams blink? I am starting to like what Houston is doing here.... and should hold out for the best offer they can get.

Miami is really wierd, this is public, so what is Tua thinking here? Denver isn't that big a deal as they have one year Bridgewater and left over Lock. Carolina has cap scares as they have already locked in Darnold for his option year. Add Watson's salary and Yikes.

Can't wait to see how this unfolds.

Latest on Watson...
Per sources close to the team, Miami and Houston had agreed to trade, however, Miami was pushing Watson to settle the civil lawsuit cases, once Houston found that out, and thought it was going to happen, they raised the price for the trade. So now there is a gap again on the trade.

Per the sources - IF Houston drops the trade need again, then a deal will be done and Watson will move to settle the civil cases. If no trade is completed by the deadline, then He won't settle, at least not yet and won't play for Houston this year.

So deadline is this Tuesday at 4pm

Per reports the Grand Jury investigation on Deshaun Watson will end by end of January. No hints to whether any criminal charges will be filed or not.

So latest I read was this.... I believe on PFT.
Watson had a settlement agreement with 20 of the 22 women for $100,000 each. However, the two said no, and thus all settlements were cancelled. This is one reason the trade to Miami before the deadline was not reached. Miami wanted this all settled. Per the Plaintiffs, the disagreement was requests for NDA's so no discussion of settlement could be had. However, in the past, Watson's attorney stated he wanted no NDA's. So who knows.

Miami by all reports are now out of the Watson hunt and are sticking with Tua.
Houston's GM just came out and stated Watson will not play for Houston ever again, and he has a $30 to $40 million cap hit this year. So some kind of trade has to happen.

Grand Jury is expected to finalize if they will file any formal criminal charges in the next few weeks

Another rumor out there...
NYGiants have supposedly targeted HC Brian Flores, and Flores and Watson supposedly have a deal to want to work together. Giants trading the #5 and #7 to Houston for Watson could make sense in that. Giants need more than Watson, but he can win games while they rebuild.

Just rumor though...

Coming at you
I truly don't see how he will ever play again anywhere. Just bad optics.
Oh please

He keeps his hands to himself and this is all forgotten in a very short time. Way worse infractions that players have committed and came back to play. Not like he came out against the Dems voting rights lie ;)
