Cowboys RB situation?

How do you guys see it ending up? Still Marion, Felix, Tashard, or could it transition to Felix, Barber, Tashard?

And how much of a split do you see it being?

I ask because I traded Hines Ward for Felix Jones in my league and want to see if it was a smart move

I can't see Dallas relying on F.Jones until he can prove he can stay on the field. He brings some incredible talent into the running back position...but if he can't keep on the field...it doesn't do much. I am a huge fan of Choice...as I think he actually blends Barber and Jones into one package. But I can't see them just ignoring Barber and Jones due to what they are paying them.

Ideally, they deal Barber to a RB-needy team (SD?) for a decent pick, and hand the reigns to Felix and Choice in an equal timeshare. Then draft a return specialist type to relieve that workload from Jones. I agree that Choice seems to profile as more of a workhorse-type than Felix and needs to see the field more.

Barber simply needs to be removed from the situation, place Felix as the starter, and Choice as the 3rd down back in addition to giving him a series or two each half.

Marion Barber is nothing more than a third wheel, and creates more problems than anything else due to other backs not getting enough time on the field.

Why not felix as the 3rd down change of pace, and choice the workhorse??

I would actually think a situation like Tennessee did the year before last with CJ and White would work more. Not necessarily have a "starting back" but instead rotate the backs depending on the situation and the need vs. the defense using Choice and F.Jones. I don't see FJ as durable as CJ...so not sure he could take that many carries.

Because I think Felix will produce more than Choice. I also like Choice though, which is why I want to see him getting a series or two each half, rather than just being the 3rd down back.

Felix Jones is just far more explosive and needs the ball in his hands more. He showed that as his knee got healthy toward the end of the season this year. He would have shown it more had they not kept force feeding Barber into the lineup.

In this offense, Choice can still get 10+ touches per game in this setup.

At the beginning of the 2009 season i was defending MBIII

now i couldnt agree more with what you were saying then and saying now he is and always will be one play away from an injury

What a difference two years make. After 2007, Barber was considered a top 5 back. Now, he's a throw away. Still young too. Will be interesting where he ends up, because it doesn't look like it will be in Dallas..........

I think so as well, and not to be an ass to LT, but if Barber came up gimp or whatever and ended up being just like LT this year, the offense as a whole hasnt really lost anything. He could actually fit in with that team as a closer, like when he was most effective for Dallas.

If Choice only garnered 10'ish touches a game, that leaves 20+ for Felix which he hasn't proven he can handle just yet. Totally agree with the fact that Barber is taking away PT from each of these guys who are probably both better or at least equal, and would thrive with a change of scenery. He and L. Maroney were an immensely productive timeshare backfield at the U. of Minnesota.. why not reprise that? God knows NE has enough spare picks to make a deal happen, and they throw so much that burnout is virtually impossible.

Even if Felix dont get the "lead role" this year, I see more touches for him.
