rotoworld,

Chris Johnson was a no-show Tuesday morning for the start of the Titans' voluntary May minicamp.

Johnson, currently training in Florida on his own, was also absent for April minicamp. Bo Scaife was another no-show, despite having signed his restricted free agent tender. Scaife is currently working out in Denver. The Titans have more minicamps scheduled for the weeks of May 17 and May 24.

the name to remember is Javon Ringer. Your starting Rb for Tenn, as CJ holds out in an extended period, then comes back late and gets hurt since he will have missed camp.

Isn't that something like if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it did it make any noise Chris?

The leagues leading rusher of the previous year has fallen off significantly in most years. There are some exceptions to the rule, i.e. Emmit Smith and a few others. I would be weary of CJ this year. But since he is so young, the wear and tear might not affect him so much as the others on the list.

In all seriousness, as a Johnson owner, I am starting to consider moving this guy. I have a feeling he will be getting hurt sometime during the season and I might as well move him now while his value is ridiculously high.

Try to go after AP or MJD or Rice

I have AP already, spoke with the Rice owner... trade talks are leaning towards CJ3 and VJax for Rice and Megatron...

14 team league, non-ppr, current roster is:

Ryan/Cutlet/Campbell
AP/CJ3/Wells/Stewy
Fitz/White/VJax/Bowe/Owens/Winslow (TEs count for WR)

I would love to have a starting WR corp of Fitz/Megatron/White

rotoworld,

NFL Network analyst Marshall Faulk has advised Chris Johnson to follow through with his holdout plans until the Titans upgrade his contract.

Faulk can forget about his front office aspirations after giving this advice; the Titans are hamstrung by uncapped-year NFL rules and all but unable to make Johnson a serious long-term contract offer. "In my opinion, there is no way he can come in and play under the current contract," said Faulk. "If more money is what he wants, he has to hold out." And everyone wants more money, all the time. Faulk's argument is poor, and hopefully won't appeal to Johnson.

This is one player that needs to get payed, i cant blame him to hold out, his $500.000 plus current salary is a crime.

Pay Up Titans

rotoworld,

Titans GM Mike Reinfeldt said he doesn't think there's a "likelihood" that anything is going to happen with Chris Johnson's contract.

Reinfeldt said he's had some discussions with Johnson's agent, but no negotiations have taken place. "I just think he's a pro and we expect him to honor his contract," Reinfeldt said. The 30 percent rule has Reinfeldt's hands tied pretty tight anyway. Johnson has hinted that he'll hold out from training camp, but until he actually does that we're not concerned. Coach Fisher doesn't appear too worried either. May. 20 - 8:52 am et

rotoworld,

J.J. Halsell, a salary cap expert for FootballOutsiders.com and ESPN, believes the Titans could work around the "30 percent" rule by modeling a long-term deal after the one recently signed by Patrick Willis.

Per Halsell, the 30 percent rule extends beyond Johnson's base salary to include an option bonus picked up last year. Willis received $50M over five years with $29M guaranteed, but the Titans won't come close matching that with three years left on Johnson's deal. They won't want to set a precedent that can be used by other players seeking a contract down the road. A long-term deal still seems unlikely until at least next offseason.

rotoworld,

According to the National Football Post's Mike Lombardi, the Titans "are not going to change their position" on Chris Johnson's contract situation.

Lombardi expects agent Joel Segal to continue to send the Titans proposals, but the organization has a history of not backing down with regard to contract matters. As Lombardi also points out, "the Collective Bargaining Agreement does not favor (Johnson's) holdout." It remains to be seen if Johnson will report on time to training camp. He's not at OTAs.

rotoworld,

Coach Jeff Fisher expects the Titans brass to have a meeting with Chris Johnson before June OTAs.

The two spoke recently, with Johnson inviting Fisher to his football camp. Fisher declined and said he'd like Johnson to participate in his instead. While media reports indicate the rushing leader could hold out beyond training camp, those close to Johnson don't believe he has the heart to stay away from football. CJ2K's offseason absence is unlikely to affect his fantasy production.
