Ochocinco will be changed back to Johnson on July 4 according to the 35 year old receiver. "For me, it's about me getting back to the basics, going back to the root of how it all started," he said. According to coaches Chad is behind in learning to playbook but arriving in Miami late helps explain that situation this time around.

Re: Chad Ochocinco will cease to be on July 4th

I guess it's better late than never to stop the foolishness and grow up. heck it took me till I was 30 to get on that path. As a Phins fan I want whats best for the team and if he is working hard and football is his number one priority right now, well then I will be in his corner. Just don't know how much he can contribute, but with how the draft went and other off season decisions that had me shaking my head I am hoping for anything this year with the fish.

Well he was a little late it making it happen but Chad Ochocinco legally changed his last name back to Johnson today.

Thank God!

Yeah, I suspect he hopes that teams will be more willing to take him on if he presents himself as something other than the jagoff we have come to know him to be.....self preservation has kicked in now. Maybe he was paying attention to TO and saw his future, and didn't like it.

So let me get this straight, Chad moves to the most Spanish friendly city in the United States and THEN decides to drop the Ocho Cinco moniker? Makes total sense.

Well, considering he was going for 85, not 8 - 5, I think this way he does not offend the spanish speaking folks. ;)

Now, if he decides to be a football player instead of an entertainer, that will be news.

I always liked Chad Johnson the football player. He could still be productive if he takes the game seriously again..............
