Card's WRs lack confidence in Leinart, Duh!

From rotoworld,
Matt Leinart's inaccuracy has "eroded confidence among the receiving corps," according to Cardinals beat writer Kent Somers.

Not only does Leinart diminish their playmaking ability, his high throws make them targets for big hits. Per Somers, the offense "will no doubt change" if Leinart takes over, with the running game taking center stage. With Beanie Wells emerging as an explosive runner, the Cardinals' pass-heavy offense could be on its last legs. Jan. 21 - 10:21 am et

If Leinart is in all season, then Arizona will have the #1 draft pick next year...and can once again draft the Qb of the future  :biglaugh:

Leinart will butt :hump: the Cards back to the stone age. Expect a 20 - 25 interception season.

I agree with you, efactor. Leinart has a lot to prove.

He does, but I'm in the "wait and see" camp. He got to sit and learn for the last couple years, watching a great QB and leader. Hopefully, that rubbed off on him and he will be ready to step up in 2010. If Boldin is back, he has great targets and a stronger running game will take some of the pressure off. I think he has a chance to be a very good QB. We will see anyway.......

The talent around him by itself will not allow him to fall completely on his face IMO over a full season. I also don't think he will shock everyone and have a Warner type year. I think he will be mediocre. Enough to keep his job, not enough to make him or the cards a real threat.

I would like for Kent Somers to get a little more specific in his claim. For all we know, these receivers may be very comfortable in the future with Leinart. Which receivers are speaking out to this talking head? I mean, seriously, he couldn't say it if it weren't true could he? ;)

It is hard for me to make an assumption on Leinart. He was full of himself going into the NFL, and he was brought back down to reality. Don't let his play at the end of the season impact you, the entire team was in vacation mode.

keep an open mind on this guy, and let's see how he does going into the season as the starter, if he does end up being the starter this year.

Didn't he already play an entire season as the starting QB before Warner got there and then got benched for Warner?

Yep, but should that be a deciding factor in his future?

I'm not saying that the guy is going to be good, but I think you have to see if he has gotten past the immaturity factor.

don't judge the guy based on where he was drafted and how quickly he was given a job. I am a big believer in pushing you high draft picks, but not a believer in giving them the job based on where they were drafted, and that is what happened with Leinart.

I'd take him as a late round back-up. The bar is set very high for the guy and he has the physical and circumstantial tools to be successful.

The Cards have done NOTHING in the last few years to get an insurance policy so it seems they are content with him.

I don't think so. I mean, look at Alex Smith. Everybody labelled him a bust and it looks like he's finally starting to become a decent QB. He won't ever live up to his #1 overall billing, but he could easily be the starter for the 49ers a good while.

Same might hold true for Leinart.

Well, to me then this still deserves the label bust.

Teams that took A.Smith or Leinart or Leaf or Akili Smith or whomever with that high a pick did so on the expectation that they would be the franchise Qb for a strong while.

Even if Leinart doesn't totally blow up.....which I think will and fail epically..... He is still a first round bust in my eyes. As is Alex Smith.
