Yeah, that's my thinking at this point. They were probably going to have a QB controversy this year so the more the merrier. Is it just me, or does this seem to be becoming Grudenesque?

Well, I think Greise is gone anyways. Leftwich will fight it out with McCown to start, with the other backing up and giving Johnson more time to develop.

Garcia has his own issues. A winning quarterback? yes he is, but the one thing hes never been called is the solution. Just as with the cuts of brooks and company, the brass was looking not only at this year, but next year and the following. If they didn't think the player would be around then when they make their run again, they decided to move on now. Keeping garcia only retards the solidification of a teams most important position.

IMO, this will be one of the most under-rated signings of the offseason. Lefty will get the job and the team will do well under him.

Lefty could provide more impact than many suspect. He has only made some spot appearances for the Steelers. But he has done more than just stepped in in a jam. He was more than just effective when he took over he was productive in a very positive way when he played.

Freeman made some impressive throws, including a 50-yard-plus deep ball to WR Pat Carter.
