USF heading to Tallahassee this fall to settle this thing once and for all.

Funny. I recollect a time a few years back when the almighty Trojans told themselves the very same fairy tales and found themselves catching the next flight back to loserville. The year was 1998 and the game was where? Doak Campbell Stadium. All I can say to you is... good luck man.

Having that said, let the record show that I also attended USF and proudly sport USF branding on my vehicle.... but GO NOLES!

So far, most of what I have read has been knocks on Luke and Leftys' performances in OTAs vs totally Great stuff about Freeman. Instead of an intense competition the coaches wanted, a Ho Hum inspirationless malaise is occurring. Right now I would have to consider this Freeman talk by the coaches is a bit more in the coachspeak category, trying to light a fire under Luke and Lefty. Now how much longer this is the case remains to be seen.

If you are going to throw a rookie out there you have to make that decision fairly early in Training Camp and get the rook as many reps as posssible.

I'm doing play-by-play for Bulls football in the Fall. We're headed to Tallahassee for the game. Go Bulls!!!

Agreed on all points. NFL Network reported this week that coaches had their eggs in the Luke basket early on. Then they started to work with him as the lead horse but were disappointed. They went fishing again and reeled in Lefty to be the lead QB. But once again weren't ready to propose to him and his less then stellar performance. This lead them draft Freeman who they are hoping will be a successful marriage in the future...however long that takes.

Tampa's gotta learn to date better QBs with stronger arms and more developed play-making. Till then, i don't see our QB situation improving much over the next few dozen or two moons.

The worst thing Tampa could do is put Freeman in this year. IF they do that you will see the next Leaf, Harrington, Alex Smith or other examples. Kid has some talent...but he needs a year to see how the game is played and learn a real offense.

Put him in early...and his career will be crushed.

Well said, I don't think he succeeds in any circumstances, BUT....if I am proven wrong it will be b/c they let him learn the NFL game first before tossing him to the wolves.

Didn't ya'll win a SB with Brad Johnson and make the postseason with Jeff Garcia?

I really don't know how this is even up for debate with that coaching staff/front office.
Start Leftwich with McCown as the 2 and JF taking notes. Work JF in during specific situations later in the year to get some real-time game reps. Maybe have him start a game in week 16 or 17 to build for next year. Take the high draft pick and start rebuilding the defense and O-Line, developing a better environment for your "franchise QB" to work with and contend down the road.

Exactly! Where are they now? My brilliant HC decided Garcia wasn't worth keeping and Gruden let my SB team fall apart in the subsequent seasons following our victory including BJohnson. Granted Johnson threw 21 interceptions along side his 3811 yds / 354 completions in '03 and only played in 4 games in '04 before moving up to Minnesota.

May I remind ya'll that my only franchise SuperBowl win was delivered by a Florida State alumni!

Starting JF would be worse than when we started Sean King.

Leftwich and McCown would have a tough time starting anywhere in the NFL right now. (McCown tougher)

Maybe, Denver, NYJ, Oakland, Detroit, SF, and in Tampa.

Its going to be a headache for the coach having to pick the starting Qb in TB if/while they decide to keep Freeman on the bench for a year. The problem i see TB having is, sure all the QBs can play football but none of them are consistant enough to win games or to get the team anywhere. Definitly going to be an off year for TB.

When Fla/FSU play this year, that will be the decider of who is the best team. Miami is still way off the curve of the elite in florida. USF will/can be very soon the best team in college 'ball in the state. USF is the only team i care for in florida. I'm a Georgia Bulldog fan through and through.

Although I hate UF, there's no comparison with them and any other FL team atm, IMO. They're simply the best right now. With that said, I think USF is better than FSU.

I'm pretty sure he started the majority of the time he was in Jacksonville. And although he may've been the one holding a clipboard the past couple years, Freeman needs to be the one holding that role this year. At least until December.

Freeman is nowhere near as polished as Ryan or Flacco coming out of college, and he's got far less to work with than either of those 2 had in '08. If they start him from day 1, he'll be toast before their bye week.

No offense to the Tampa-St. Pete posse, but that team isn't going anywhere this year anyway, so they might as well play it intelligently with their QBotF.
I could not agree more. Give the rookie QB's a chance to see the speed and motion of the NFL before you feed them to the wolves. Ryan and Flacco were freaks of nature, and not likely to happen again for a while.
