Bucs may take a look at OS QB Terrelle Pryor in the supplemental draft

Right now the Bucs are in QB heaven as Freeman looks great and Backup QB Josh Johnson is considered an NFL starter quaility QB. Problem is they make not be able to hang on to Josh Johnson after next year when he becomes a free agent.

But the Pewter Report believes the team would not select the developmental QB higher than fifth round in the supplemental draft. Pryor could be a long-term backup to Josh Freeman with Josh Johnson likely to leave via free agency in 2012.

I really do not see Pryor as an NFL quarterback that can come into a more standard system as a backup. Already question him in a system built for his skills - but in a proset I just do not see him getting the job done.

Bucs Doing Homework on Terrelle Pryor --
Sat Jul 23, 2011 --from FFMastermind.comThe National Football Post reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly doing their homework on another quarterback. This one isn’t nearly as highly touted, but QB Terrelle Pryor has been dissected just the same. According to Charlie Campbell of Pewter Report, the Bucs could potentially make a run at the disgraced Ohio State quarterback in the NFL supplemental draft. Pryor put up big numbers for the Buckeyes last season but will likely be a work-in-progress at the next level. If Tampa invested a late-round pick in Pryor, they could work with him and there wouldn’t be pressure on him behind Freeman. Campbell points out the Bucs will likely lose backup QB Josh Johnson after this season. So bringing in a potential backup now and working with him makes sense. Johnson has been linked to the San Francisco 49ers because he played for new HC Jim Harbaugh at the University of San Diego. Like Pryor, Johnson is an exceptional athlete.

They really have little to lose with this potential move.

I'd love to have Terrelle Pryor behind Freeman. And I'd even more love to see Josh Johnson get a shot on another team. He's a very talented and smart young player.

Here's the thing, the new 46 player rule renders this null and void. Pryor is the perfect Wildcat QB and can be safely stashed in the 3rd QB slot.

What can he actually do though? Wildcat or not, if he cant hit the broadside of a barn passing against NFL competition the defense will rush 7 and eat his lunch faster than he ate Tress

Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports the NFL could end up ruling former Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor ineligible for this year's supplemental draft, which has not yet been scheduled.
"(The supplemental draft) is for players whose circumstances have changed in an unforeseen way after the regular (college) draft," said NFL spokeman Greg Aiello. "It is not a mechanism for simply bypassing the regular (draft)." Aiello defined "unforeseen" changes as players kicked off their teams or ruled academically ineligible, neither of which apply to Pryor. NFL VP of player personnel/football operations Joel Bussert will make a ruling on Pryor after reviewing his case.

Might not get the chance after all.
