Buc's Bench Freeman

Per reports listed at ESPN and other sites, the Bucs have decided to Bench Freeman this week and start rookie Mike Glennon instead.

This has huge effects on:
V.J. and Mike Williams as well as Martin as I fully expect them to load the box to force Glennon to pass

I'm not sure what the Buc's have in Glennon but they haven't lost a lot in Freeman. He just kept getting worse and worse.

I remember last year when the 49ers turned to Kaepernick and people didn't expect much. Hopefully this kid can have even a sliver of that success

Nice thing is, he has NO pressure. Freeman has played so terrible, the team is SO done with him, and they're 0-3.

Glennon could be getting a look before 2014....if this season unravels in Tampa don't be surprised if they make a switch.

Didn't expect it to happen just 10 days after I posted this, but saw this coming. Freeman is not in their plans moving forward so why not give the rookie a look.

Its a good time for it too. They're at home, hosting a pretty average team, and their bye is next week.

Freeman was never that good anyway. His teammates voted him out of the Captain's title. His performance has gone down the last three years. Time to release him and no matter how bad a team is they don't need him.

Scouting report on Glennon

6'6" or 6'7" depending on source. 225 lbs. 4.94 forty yd dash.

Strengths: Strong Arm, decent accuracy, good head.

Weaknesses: Slow feet, limited field vision.

Compares well to Joe Flacco.

Pundits are expecting a lot of check-downs on passing plays (Alex Smith?)

Key for success will be pass protection (how many times have we heard THAT?)

Could work out better for Martin or the TE (if they had one) than for VJax or Williams.

There is some dispute as to if Freeman really lost the team vote or out the coach took it upon himself to remove him.

This has to say something about Glennon. Regardless if Schiano ever liked Freeman, I doubt he'd stick his neck out and play Glennon unless he thought he could win with him.

Don't like him? Hell he must hate him. Reports say that he is considering making Freeman inactive for the week four game.

Bucs went about this all wrong. All their cards are on the table now. Good luck getting much in the way of a trade for the guy who clearly has no value to you
There is no value. Kid is in the last year of a big rookie deal. So who ever trades for him has to eat the inflated last year price, plus sign him to new deal, plus give up something. I don't think it happens. He will be dead weight until end of season.

Wonder if they have any other Qb on roster? Cause if Glennon gets hurt or totally sucks, going back to Freeman would be a total blow up.

Wha? You think I was spinning the report?

Martin and VJax were the reason I looked up Glennon (whom I just picked-up, btw) but the scouting report was exactly as I read it, not some AE opinionated BS.

Must I provide a link to EVERYTHING I post?
