Browns RB Richardson sounds close being ready for the season opener.

Browns RB Trent Richardson (knee) appears to be on track to play in the Browns' season opener against the Eagles, the Canton Repository reports. "He's very close," coach Pat Shurmur said of Richardson, who is recovering from an Aug. 12 knee scope. "He's done a lot behind the scenes of course that I haven't talked about." Coach says if he is out on the field he will be given a full load.

I'm still a little queasy on this one.

As a responsible Richardson owner I really wish they would give him another week. It's a long season and there will be plenty of opportunities for him to tear his ACL.

As an excited fantasy owner, I hope he gets 40 carries.

I still have BJGE penciled in to start week 1 but a few more sips of Browns propaganda is all it will take to change that plan.

I agree, queasy is good attitude to have and penciled in sounds like a good notion. I read a few sources of this subject and they had the same coaches comments listed and came to completely different conclusions as to Richardsons playing this week.

A little actual practice time is probably too much to hope for.

I know the Browns are DYING to showcase their new rookie, especially for the hometown fans.

I don't think it really matters to them if he is ready or not....which is scary.

But one coach said "If he plays, he gets a full load" so I guess I would be dumb not to start him if he plays.

Browns Trent Richardson (knee) is back at practice on Monday, according to Tony Grossi.

OK, so far very nice, But the key is really tomorrow, if his knee swells up he may not be at tomorrows practice.

Someone please explain this to me as it's been bothering me for quite some time.

A CBS report on Richardson's health heading into week 1 explains that he will likely start, but will be limited.

I get that.

Then they go on to say " If you can afford to use Richardson as a flex option Week 1, then that is the safer play since he missed the entire preseason schedule. "

Does a flex player score differently than a RB?

Do you get points for your flex missing plays or being limited?

If he's not fit to start as a RB then why the hell would you start him as a flex?

Dude is gonna put up X points no matter where he plays.

If you move him to flex and he bombs....does that make it ok?

"Whoa....Glad I didn't start him as a RB"

What if your replacement RB bombs and flex Trent goes off for 30 pts. Do you kick yourself?

"Damn....should have started him at RB"

All seems stupid to me.

Maybe someone can explain it.

Tekky I hear ya Flex is as important as any other roster spot but most people look at it as a RB 3 or WR3 spot as if you start him at flex and he zonks out it wont hurt you as bad if he was at RB1 or 2 ...??>>??? Dont quite understand it myself. Usually new people to fantasy or a reporter who doesnt understand fantasy.
