Marshall visited Seattle today. He and coach Pete Carroll arrived at the Seahawks lakeside practice facility via float plane. King 5 in Seattle has footage:

The Seahawks flew free agent receiver Brandon Marshall into their headquarters today. Marshall took a seaplane into the bay on Lake Washington at the headquarters. Reportedly, Marshall and the Hawks are trying to work out a long-term deal. If that happens, Seattle would have to either work out a trade with Denver or sign him to an offer sheet. If they go the offer sheet route, Denver would receive Seattle's first round pick, sixth overall, for Marshall.

man, I'm all for a first rounder for Marshall......but 6 seems high. That said, hid is a stud and is exactly the toy Carroll would love to have in his offense.

The Seahawks won't give up the #6 for Marshall. I also doubt they give Denver back the #14. My guess is they give up their high 2nd round pick for him, or something similar.

how can you give someone a certain round tender but get him for less?

and denver likely won't take less than a first for him

the #14, now that I would give......no way the #6. So it comes down to them working out a trade with Denver.

If I was Denver, I think I'd sit and wait for an offer sheet, one will come and it will lock in a #1 pick.

I doubt Denver can get a #1 based on the current market. Plus, the Broncos would probably prefer Marshall play in the NFC.

Denver can trade him. They want him gone, they will not likely get a 1st round pick for him. Plus Marshall has to play ball in this as well. Do you think he will take a lesser offer so the Broncos can get a higher draft compensation?

Marshall has left Seattle and an offer sheet is not expected to be signed any time soon. The visit was described more as a getting to know each other visit.....

Will be interesting to see where he ends up visiting next.

I'm assuming you'd have no problem if someone gave up, say, a #21 overall for him? :)

For Denver to trade him, they would need him to sign his tender, then they would eat that cap space.

Even in an uncapped year, I don't see that happening.

No, someone will have to sign him to a huge contract/offer sheet. Then Denver won't match, and the cost is a first round pick per the tender they placed.

At least that is how I think it works. Not sure on changes due to uncapped year.

Most around here think Denver will (stupidly) hold out for the #6....which is still a steal for a guy who turns 25 this month and has topped 100 receptions for three straight years. Seriously, people get hung up on draft position but Seattle has to ask themselves this; who in the draft will step in on day 0 and put up mad numbers AND do it for the next 8 years barring injury? Answer: no one. They (or any other team) need to do the deal if they are serious about winning. He's a douche at times but he's got sick talent.

Good points....but Marshall does have a lot of baggage and a suspension history. Little risky to give a top 10 pick and the money he wants for him. In the end, I agree he is likely worth it, but they won't get it.

I do think someone will end up giving him an offer sheet and get him for a #1, just not a top 10.....hopefully it will be Cincy!

I'd do this for the 14, but not for the 6. I think the risk factor with him is justification enough to sacrifice 8 positions. If he was clean I'd have no issue with dealing the 6 for him because of what Ram pointed out.

Won't his next slip-up result in 8 games?

Boldin (and a 5th) just got traded for a 3rd & 4th. Randy Moss went for a 3rd. Marshall should go higher than that, but not the #6 pick. The Seahawks have a lot of holes. They need OLs, RB, WR, & a QB of the future, and that is just one side of the ball.

I'm hearing the Bungles are kicking the tires, too. Dear Lord I hope they don't have a sudden six seconds of smarts and sign BMarsh. That would suuuuuuuuuuck for my Steelers to have to defend him for the next 8 years.

I heard the same thing, nothing official, but at least thinking about it.

That's my thinking, Ram.

1st rounders have way too much value placed on them.

Marshall is young and has proven he can compete (excel) at the NFL level.

Yeah, he's a head case but what makes anyone think that their 1st rounder WON'T be one?

Think the Raiders would rather have Marshall right now instead of Russell or McFadden?

Attitude can be adjusted....Talent can't.
