Bowden Speaks

FOOTBALL!
way to screw the guy who made you....doesnt surprise me with that program

Bowden was screwing up the program he built with nepotism and other questionable coaching moves while in-state rival Florida built itself into the nation's top program.

Bowden's departure was long over due. Florida State will be better off without him. Too bad he can't just let go and move on. The last few years of his tenure were riddled with press releases, not about the good players, but about the unending number of arrests of the thugs that were recruited, not to mention the NCAA infractions that resulted in games won being removed from the programs win/loss record. He became an imbarrasement to the program that he built. I think he hung around, in part, only to try to best Joe Paterno's records. Good riddance.

America has become a nation of liars. WE lie on tax forms, we lie to our kids, they lie to us. We lie to our bosses who in turn lies to us. I'm a firm believer in "saying what you mean and mean what you say!" If he was promised one more year he should have got it.

However Florida State will be better off under Jimbo, who somehow got away from LSU.

Mr. Mudd, I agree with keeping one's word, no argument there, but I am pretty sure that the $$$$$booster$ had a part in it. He had crossed them one too many times and when money talked, Bowden walked! Also, the school had gotten to the point that the only way to control him was to just get rid of him. :thrash:

Unfortunately winning is still more important to organizations than loyalty especially after such a long reign on the throne. Bobby is the reason I'm a Seminoles fan. I was raised on tomahawk football and driven up from Tampa for home games. I was really sad to see him go and thought the school's impatience was immature.

However, the program was suffering and Jimbo was the right person to take over. I took 55 students on a campus tour of FSU on April 23, 2010... the day after Patrick Robinson was just drafted to the Saints. FSU students worship Bowden but are happy to usher in the new era. Many of them said they were hoping Bowden would agree to let Jimbo have a more influential role in team management bringing a more competitive edge back to the program while keeping Bowden for his last year. That didn't happen, but the show must go on.

With this happening now, i can see Papa Joe making this his last year. Bowden is all i have ever known to coach FSU, going to feel weird catching a FSU game and not seeing him walking the sidelines.

He may not be walking the sidelines but he IS Florida State football. That will never change.
