Oregon suspends Blount for rest of season. They had to do this no way after how he acted last night.

Oregon Ducks suspend LeGarrette Blount for remainder of season - ESPN

Oregon has suspended running back LeGarrette Blount for the remainder of the season for punching Boise State linebacker Byron Hout after Thursday night's loss.

Blount's suspension includes any bowl games. Coach Chip Kelly said he will remain on scholarship.

I think this is the only move the school had. Too bad too, this kid could be a beast if he gets his head on straight.

Well that was quick. They didn't mess around with this one. Do you think this will kurt his chances in the NFL now ?

YouTube - oregon vs boise state

This video on youtube shows exactly what happened. After the game Blount was being restrained by a couple teammates and he starts fighting with one of them. He gives one of them a push/hit in the face, and then walks away. As he is walking away the Boise State DE pats him on the shoulder and says something. Then LG responds by punching him in the face. Then as he jogs backwards taunting like he is some big-shot for punching someone in the face who wasn't looking, he gets into a verbal altercation with the crowd and has to be restrained. In the video they say that he was suspended for the first practice of the year for behavioral issues. So this idiot is trouble and I am glad he can't play again for the rest of the year. :nannie:

Get ready jackass! In your profession the guy you are trying to punch is actually expecting the blow and ready to counterattack as opposed to looking the other way.

I wasn't surprised by the quick action of the PAC-10. Game on National TV, PAC-10 Commish attending the game, and all the coverage after the game into the next day.

I myself was expecting a 4-6 game suspension.....looks like the PAC-10 is making him an example that this type of actions will not be tolerated.

Blount football days are over...

Went from being a 2nd 3rd round pick to not being drafted at all.

Hmmm.....didn't realize it til yesterday but this was his senior season.

I'm glad they handled it so swiftly and didn't sit around and pull a Goodall.

Not really accepting that his days are over. He's still able to practice with the team so he'll stay in shape. He just needs to change his public appearance now. He can do some habitat for humanity or some other kind of community service and "show" he is a good guy. And with the NFLs attitude of giving everybody a second chance, this would technically be his first chance there, yes his big paycheck is gone but still think some team will bring him in for at least a look. Pacman got how many chances before he literally had to spit in Jerry Jones face before finally being let go, M. Vick is back also and whatever happened to M. Clarrett ? Haven't heard anything about him.

He better have a really good agent and PR person if he wants a shot in the NFL. Guess now i am going to have to open another window and google Clarrett.

yes, Clarrett is in jail, complete waste of god given talent, guy is a waste of air.

I am going to make some assumptions here and say that Blount isn't the brightest kid in the world, I could be wrong, but this is an assumption I am going to make. Based on that assumption I am going to guess he is not real close to actually getting a degree. If this assumption is correct here is what could be the best thing for him to do:
leave school and sign with a United Football League team who will start play this fall. This will give him a chance to play ball this year and showcase his physical tools to NFL scouts......it also would give him a chance to start to rehab his image in the public eyes. This would be his best move if he wants to get a shot at the NFL.

Call me crazy, but had California won I dont think this story happens. I think Kelly believes he may have an 11-1 team and hed like to have Blount back to go against the stretch run if he can beat USC......

Dungy says he deserves the chance.

Seriously though, I believe what they are putting in place here is best for the player and the team.
