Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to get some competition for the job?

One of Doug Marrone's early challenges as head coach of the Buffalo Bills: Make a decision about Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The quarterback has been an uneven performer since taking over the starting role in 2010. Fitzpatrick's top target, receiver Stevie Johnson, would like to see some competition under center.
"Because competition brings out the best in us," Johnson told The Buffalo News earlier this month. "If we went out and got another quarterback, who knows what'll happen? Fitz may still win, or the other guy may win. Let it happen like that.

Fitz has looked both good and bad as the Bills QB which may make the following an interesting draft day story.

The Buffalo Bills hired coach Doug Marrone away from Syracuse earlier this month. Now Saracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib says he'd love the chance to join his former coach.

"That would be a great situation, I love the city of Buffalo," Nassib said Tuesday on WGR-AM, via the Bills' official web site. "I'm a Central New York guy, that type of weather, and going to Buffalo with all those Syracuse guys there, that would be a match made in heaven."

The Bills are in the market for a young quarterback, with Ryan Fitzpatrick not viewed by many as the long-term solution, and Nassib's name has been linked to the Bills since Marrone took the job.

The lighting a fire under ones a$$ dont always work just ask Rex Ryan about Mark Sanchez.

It doesnt sound like the Bills are a 100% sold on Fitz as the long term QB, sure isnt getting any support from WR S.Johnson.

He got paid and laid an egg.

Halfway through the season, Buddy Nix right out said the Bills need to find a franchise quarterback. Fitzpatrick might turn out to be a solid coach or something down the line, but he's proven to just be a backup quarterback.

I agree, Fitz is a stop gap. I think he would be a great fill in for injury or short periods of starting, but he is not a solid starting Qb.

Then again, Buffalo has done not a lot to get him success. They have one solid wr, TE is a rolling thing. Off. line just sucks.

Still, they need to draft for the future with the high pick.
