So, now its ''over'', and the statements of the victim and witnesses are out, what do you guys/gals think? What should the league/team do?

Cooley should be able to speak on Michigan law, but as far as Texas, I see enough to present this case to a grand jury. I also believe had this been presented to a grand jury here, there would have been an indictment.

I believe the league should hand down at least a two game suspension. I also believe Mr. Rooney might very well go even harder.

Though Im not a Steelers fan, I respect the franchise for the honor and integrity they represent, and for the way they do business. $102 million QB or not, no one man is bigger than the team up there.

Newest out here is Ben is on the trading block and the Rooneys are just waiting for a phone call from any team with a tempting offer. They're looking for a early first rounder and with no salary cap this year it might happen. With all the talent in the draft, i think Ben is gone out of Pittsburgh and will either be going to Oakland or Maybe Jax seems the best possibilities. Unless Buffalo gets in the mix. Or better yet make Favre retire and send him to Minnesota.

To be honest I have not been following the story that closely.

Witnesses: Ben Roethlisberger's 'bodyguards' blocked the way - USATODAY.com

Just reading the article some of what I interpret as discrepancies come to mind.

1. The woman who filed the complaint said, "His bodyguards told my friends they couldn't pass them to get to me." If she was in as terrible shape as they are claiming and WITH Big (and lil) Ben in the bathroom I am suspecting this is her repeating what a friend told her afterward and not something she could actually testify to.

2. If this woman was seriously being dragged around I would think the chances of someone not related to the goon squad or the victim's bff's noticing would increase.

3. There is the talk about the goons not letting them by but then one of them does... but the door is locked? Seems a little to convenient that after the fact the "friends" come up with excuses for not being there for her.

4. There was a body guard who stated the victim requested to use the bathroom and was escorted back there and the guard did not even see Big B w/ her.

I have taken the approach that something may have happened but if I were a prosecutor there would have to be more than a group of he says and she says for me to want to pursue this one.

I would be interested on what aspects I have left out as I am sure I have, but if this is it I would have to say Ben gets a pass from me and I realize that probably is not going to be a very popular position.

I dont care what he's accused of, bring Roethisberger to the Raiders.

The charges have been dropped, if the evidence was there the DA would have moved forward to start court proceedings.

I'm sure something went on that evening in question but having the woman not wanting to press charges dont cut no ice with the DA. if there is a case to build on then Roethlisberger would be charged no matter what the victim wants.

I think the league should be treating Big Ben just like they treated PacMan Jones. Didn't seem to matter if he was found guilty or not, why not lay the same gauntlet down on Big Ben? It's all about being fair and consistent, right Mr. Goodell?

What exactly is the basis for Goodell to take action?

Here is what I'm not sure - is Ben claiming nothing happened or that it was consensual?

If nothing - what is the basis? The fact that he placed himself into a position to be accused? Seems weak to me.

If consensual - then I think he has a basis even if it is the sex in a bathroom not making the league look good. Still weak but probably enough.

Simple. Big Ben is being accused of multiple things, therefore he has to be doing bad things. That was the mentality used on PacMan Jones. The guy was kicked out of the league without ever being found guilty of anything.

The difference? One of these guys is not a high profile quarterback and popular.

PacMan would have already gotten a long suspension were he being accused of the exact things that Big Ben has been accused up up to this point.

He'd be a nice fit to the Raiders. I'll be big time suprised if Ben is still here come week 1. Rooneys will/need to send a message out showing nobody is above being punished. And they have a decent enough backup to pick up a QB in the draft and let him hold a clipboard and learn the offence for a season.

So what was PacMan, 7(?) arrests and no convictions???

Pacman was/is a douchebag. Even with hired babysitters to watch him he couldn't stay out of trouble.

I don't know but generally I find supposed multiple accounts of rape and exposing ones self much worse than drunken fights and being an idiot...

If there is evidence to support the validity of each of the "multiple accounts". I do not want to defend Ben if there is fire under all this smoke but the recent additional unsubstantiated allegations are suspicious to say the least.

I bet a cheeseburger that Big Ben had some help "losing some evidence" from that cop in some form or fashion...

My guess is this. Where there is smoke, there is fire.

Now, do I think he raped this girl? I suppose it depends on how you define rape. I don't think he tied her up or forced her. However, she was 20 and he supplied alcohol that impaired her judgement. So at worst he should be charged with delinquency of a minor. My guess is there was no direct link to him buying the alcohol...so they could not charge.

Net, this looks like a patern. Not a good one. In most cases, the perp is an idiot, and will eventually screw up and get caught. I think this is eventually will happen to ben as well.

I also agree with Mike. Why not drop the ban hammer on him like Pacman? They both have exactly the same amount of convictions.

I read that this morning Cooley. Me thinks it was a botched job. Avoiding conflict of interest is in the ten commandments of law enforcement and he smashed that one
