Big Ben Accused of Sexual Assault....AGAIN

Moriah Balingit, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports the Georgia Bureau of Investigations is no longer seeking a sample of DNA from Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, according to his attorney. Milledgeville, Ga., police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations had requested a DNA sample from Roethlisberger, but Roethlisberger learned last week that a sample was no longer needed.

Several explanations are possible for this but one reason could be that is that there is no actual evidence to compare it to.

Not having talked to the victim since the charge was made has a tendency to bog down investigations.

Here's another report that has surfaced:

KDKA's Andy Sheehan reports the alleged victim that claims Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her declined to be re-interviewed by police. Sources close to the investigation say that investigators have had trouble re-interviewing the woman since the night of the incident.

I heard last night that the survalence video was erased before police were able to view it. They said as they were viewing it and trying to get to the part with Ben, the police had to respond to something else and when they came back, the dvr had recorded over the tape.

My understanding of this is two things.

First, they don't need the DNA, he has supposedly admitted to some type of sexual contact. As such, no DNA is needed. One theory has it the police requested it to see if Roethlisburger would cooperate or not.

It's a tough situation as we would like to know what happened and have it resolved. So we end up dancing around speculating on tiny bits of info even though it is obvious this has a long way to go before we find out what is really going on.

Again, this smacks of extortion. Were I Roethlisberger, I'd be filing a counter-claim to that effect.

I don't think so. My gut is SOMETHING happened. Whether it was sexual assault or not is what needs to be proved. The fact he has NOT counter sued or made any damaging claims smacks to me as he is worried on some count.

I would tend to agree more with P'fan on this. My recommendation is to not read to much into an initial refusal to be re-interviewed. There are usually a lot of factors playing into a victims actions/reactions at the initial stages. Not saying you couldn't be right but it is to early to make that type of conclusion, especially since I thought I later read something about her being more willing to cooperate.

even if he didn't assault her, which is totally possible, he's an idiot for allowing this situation (college bar, young chick, etc.) to happen

This statement is ridiculous... Big Ben's entitled to try and get himself some, just like anyone else.

While I agree that Ben is entitled to chase tail like everyone else, with the previous allegation still hanging over his head, he should be a bit more selective about who and maybe more importantly, where he is chasing it. Sex with a drunk 20 year old in a public bathroom probably isn't the smartest thing for a public figure with a sexual assault charge still pending against him to do.

Just saying.............

Is he a victim of bad judgement or just an idiot?

I think it's because he hung around bad influences like Michael Jordan. (sic) MJ and those bad boys corrupted their innocence and is the problem for all "those boys", as Tiger Woods' associate said!

These guys will never learn, will they?

They are learning. What would you have them learn? The generation they belong to learned quite well. The media taught them all they need to know; to wit, that movie $tar$ and $port$ Figure$ will get all the accolades and that indescretion is the new fad.

just too bad that morals were thrown out in the process and society adored this because it sounded so good because all would respect that 1 person who "might" get offended. THAT'S THE NEW MORALITY. (cause and effect theory rides again!) Now the above are "offending" others and it's the Progressive Politically Correct who taught "you don't have to respect others, especially not the majority wishes. You just go ahead and do whatever you please because THAT'S YOUR RIGHT".

This is just a sign of what this country gets for throwing morals out the window. There's more to come. Good job. Well done. Congress and the media ---->:stooges: teaching what's right and wrong. "Gee i wonder where we went wrong" parents must be saying. Society as well can learn from this, but the cost is just too high to teach morality. People would actually have to consider others in their actions. We are a quick-satisfaction society, running on debt (can't even use fiscal discipline), and "just get rid of your kid if you didn't want it" philosophies.

Yes, will they ever learn? They already have!!!!

P.S. If I am incorrect, what would you have had them learn?

Can you imagine the public outcry if he "forced himself" on a 1-eyed woman though?

Frightening.

On a semi-related note.. while I was home in PA at the end of March, the overwhelming vibe on all the local talking head sportstalk radio stations was that his approval rating is in the crapper right now. Blue-collar passionate fans don't put up with antics like this, and honestly if something unforeseen happens such as Pittsburgh releasing him, there would be alot less rioting than most people might think..
He's facing a severe uphill battle to win back the fanbase's trust and admiration, let alone the franchise management.
